So here we are... 2 years after 1st post. Interesting to see and watch the downward spiral since buying out Carquest. Look at the stock postings for 1st quarter of 2017.... the knowledge employees, gone. 8.50 clerks trying to look parts up, and have no clue. Amazon selling parts at far less, for the exact same product as others online. So outpriced it is pathetic. We are looking sales to competitors left and right. Staff is so small customers have to wait to check out. When will some company take over that could turn this around????. They need to flush the corporate looser and regroup. So many employees just trying to hang on there. Sad.

I love It, Just what I was thinking. All they want to push are speed perks. what a wast of time and money. Ha Ha. And doing Planograms.
Well They Hired A Useless GM In The store I Workes In She Ran Off more Business Than We Kept . It All Started With A District Leader Who Was A Great Guy .. Hired A Useless Cam Then Put Useless GM In Moral Of Story Over 30Yrs Of parts Experince Walked out The Door
Karma Does Work
Working as a DM for both Carquest and Advance it was very clear that Advance didn't value there employees as much as Carquest. The knowledge in or store keep declining. As a DM i had little time to help teammates and stores grow due to inventory and calls.....
I agree with your comment. I should have stated based on a few stores in my area, the knowledge is lacking of any automotive knowledge at all. 2 we're hired at the store I am in dosent even know where to check their oil. My overall meaning was, at 8.50, you sure won't attract anyone with good experience, unless they ate working part time she having a full time job already. I appreciate your point however. I shouldn't have lumped in everyone.
I worked at advanced auto for 5 years and was loyal to them I got a lot of tanning there . Now that being said I in them 5 years I seen 3 different district managers, I seen them hire a guy that cam frim a pizza chain that knew nothing about auto parts , how do u do that I understand he had good collage back ground for management .I worked for him he was a nice guy but knew nothing about auto parts he later went to another district I went to oreillys auto parts and I can say they are the best company your can work for and I have seen many and I mean many of them to join our team at oreillys . Who knows mabe oreillys may buy out advance auto parts.
This company can't tell whether it's coming or going. Try working in logistics where you see money wasted hand over fist because a bunch of store f--K ups and know nothing corporate idiots practicality dictate where your labor dollars are spent and how. Look no further to how well our stores are ran, inventory availability, and overall customer service to know it's the blind, leading the blind. Such a shame really.
..
I don't see any upwards motion in stock values until they recruit some mid level management that actually have automotive parts experience. Most of the folks actually running the beast have little to none experience in the automotive parts business. Most are number crunchers and spread sheet gurus.
Company is the worst to work for. Company has no real direction or guidance. Speed perks program is a joke. Upper management changes as much as monthly. Under paid and customer service is horrible
Not sure about this but in general you are correct:
8.50 clerks trying to look parts up, and have no clue
I've seen many skilled clerks even at that compensation leve.
