@kxoc - excellent post, I took the ERP and have no regrets. My new job is far less stressful, but the new employer has idiosyncrasies too. There is no perfect employer, and the bigger they are the higher the Tcomp but the more bureaucratic it is. The biggest benefit of moving on is you get a new start -- all the Intel irritation burdens are gone! And the contract option may be the best route yet!

WOW just WOW people say I keep repeating but the tipping point passed and now ACT2 has begun! Look around have things really change and intel getting better ?

IOT canceled

NTG disbanded

X86 keeps falling and AMD and Qualcomm assault here. Worse yet EPYC servers are here with huge value meaning the one bastion of obscene profits has competition. The cloud companies say 🖕🖕to intel and force big price drops.

14 mm is on fourth generation an unheard of delay in next generation tech. Total failure by intel as TSMC runs ahead all because intel has no mobile volume. Modems, memory, IoT, VR, AI and autonomous driving really going to generate profits that the 100million x86 sale missing with ASP of 100+ did? Study after study about hugeness potential? Intel never succeed in markets because it was obvious, it got there and made the market. Intel will be a little fish now in all the markets except x86 and server and shrinking.

Now to TMG, askyour biddies in TMG how 10nm is doing and say ASP is 250 bucks ( a dream BTW) and does it bring happier days, don't forget the billions spent on the tools and business class travel and all those advertisements on TV and billions more on other follies from BK.

All soon to be paid by your job, your house and your child's college educations

Just amazing BoD lets this continue or senior leaders or rank and file challenge the clown 🤡

As a former Intel employee who left voluntarily - no package, no PIP/CAP, just got off the ride - I can say there is life after Intel. No lump in the throat when you have to dial into a meeting at 6am with Israel. No nagging feeling you are missing your kids' life with 6PM and later calls to Bangalore. No anger at management over this project being funded or that one being cancelled. All the stress and anger disappears.

I don't miss Intel one bit. I do feel bad for my Intel friends however.

Here's one observation - once you leave, you will get hammered by recruiters trying to fill contract positions for your old job, or about 1,000 just like it.

Although I haven't gone back, I think it would be easier working at Intel as a contractor not to care and to know the terms of the employment - $/hr with no focal bs, just the time until end of the contract.

Redeployments with no open Reqs is the beginning, yet still hiring RCG. What a great revolving door!

x86 sales are flat, release huge new coress on 14nm, but wafer costs are flat at best, means margins going down!

Server growth is below forecast so margins are being pinched in the one area truly making money.

10nm which promises great new faster products is MIA and when it shows up will have eye poping costs and huge margin implications that's 14nm can't cover up with declining server margins.

Then you got the billions in new product initiatives that are yielding nothing.

Talk about a train wreck in slow motion. BKd completely and more extreme ACTs are a necessity. Anyone who thinks not is an idiot, be ready and afraid 😳

Every business group has to get spending as a percentage of revenue down to 30%, so more layoffs shouldn't surprise anyone at this point.

This has been coming for some time. Only a deaf, dumb, blind, mute would not have seen this train wreck coming.

Executives with overly inflated egos and selfie walls (seriously?).

Piss poor business decisions (China).

Expulsion of recognized experts so "lifers" could protect their jobs.

The "Dutch Mafia" covering and protecting each other's arses while destroying people, careers and families.

No honor. No ethics. Following the Nike Maxiums are an express train to termination.

People with any strategic vision are seen as "disruptive" and not the "Nike (loser) culture" in that passive aggressive (Dutch) environment.

And you didn't see this coming? Seriously?

The Jim Parsons commercials for Intel are funny, but I cringe when he speaks of Intel driving the future -- be it AI, 5G, or the cloud. Intel did have a great future, but that was 12 years ago -- before it passed on ARM and the iPhone.

To all my good ex-coworkers, I suggest you hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

It is of little import because BK historically just hires back the same or more heads than he just fired. I dont know what he is thinking, makes very little sense to me.

Everyone who thinks outsourcing to cheaper is the reason doesn't understand what is going on, business model and strategy for margin preservation is busted, forget about growth. Cutting is now just about survival!

@4nlm yes even cheaper by the dozen Indian slave labor is useless and doing nothing at Intel since there is nobody leading anymore.

word is LCG (Bangalore) recent hires from Qualcomm got double salary and big bonus to come to Intel to replace high cost geo jobs. some have already met the terms and are returning back to Qualcomm with big pay bumps because they hate the leadership there and spent their time doing nothing and frustrated with the environment.

Beaverton, Hillsboro and Portland housing will take a bath very very shortly.

So many young families who need two decades will soon be set afloat on cold desperate search for a new life as big cuts are all but certain as TMG leaders FUBAR continues

Great talent swimming in the ocean with 20 thousand other recent layoffs. Who is the coming rescuer going to pick? Lots of choices and how does great talent standout, LOL

If you got talent and ambition and need another decade or more, better get in that ocean and find a new boat before BK sends another 20-30k screaming and desperat employees I the cold ocean.

Those that go this time will have little notice and few perks like those of ACT1.0 so desperation level will be high in ACT2.0

Early bird gets the worm I hear!
