Anybody else finds it laughable that Chevron just made the list of best places to work in 2017? Not only did it make the list, but it ranked at fifteenth place out of fifty.

@mivr, You obviously see the situation clearly. Chevron is in serious problems but it prefers to ignore that we are an oil and gas business and profits are primordial. All this liberal university PC and multicultural crap elevated to the power of 10 is putting us out of business. It's overdue that we turn around on a dime and announce things will change completely tomorrow.
It's not any more laughable than the cheerleading that goes on in corporate posts on the internal websites. Why are we selling everything we can drag out of the cupboard? Oh, it's got NOTHING to do with none of the LNG investments that were supposed to be the company's future being billions over budget and underperforming, some of which may eventually explode spectacularly creating a light show visible from space. BUT - are we putting competent people in place, walking the talk? PLEASE. It's MUCH too much more important that we message the same "diversity and inclusion" millennials are hearing at University so they'll think - Chevron gets it.
Chevron is great for the young, liberal, PC, multicultural millennials. That is, if you haven't lost your job. Reality can really pop that fuzzy feel good bubble you live in.

Chevron is still obsessed with social justice warrior and s-xual orientation causes within the company culture. The majority of layoffs have been from front line exploration people. This company is still very heavy with non-value adding corporate bloat. The unnecessary overhead and inefficiency is still amazingly high, considering the sheer numbers of people let go. There comes a point where there are no more 'marginal' assets to sell. But, hey, almost all of you already know that. I can see another thousand or more laid off if the oil price stays below $50 for another 6 months or more.
Just do a simple internet search on Chevron. I did, and found most sites do not rank Chevron in the top 100 of best companies to work for in 2017. One site had Chevron at #17 and another had it in the high 40's. These surveys are very suspect, as their scientific methodology is not known, and really do not have much validity. You draw your own conclusions.
OP I looked at your attachment and there are a few things to remember. People being paid well for poor company performance are bound to think this is a good deal. As a lot of people have been at Chevron for a long time and have not worked outside dont know any better. Now it seems that most the companies on the list are from the USA and nothing considered from the other 195 countries on the planet. How do you define "world"? Its the same comment on the LGBT award, how would you determine who should win this and why single out the LGBT community. The only thing worse is being stupid enough to boast about these unsubstantiated achievements. Try entering the best in class Oil/Gas performer contest, wait you already have and ended up at the bottom.

@3hxg, I use Chevron just as much as they use me. Let's don't confuse things. I don't live at or for Chevron. I only have a job there. I give them what they want and they pay me. It's that simple. If they want me to play along with their PC crap, I do. If they want me to applaud the flavor of the day that's on display, I do. But don't for granted that's who I am. When I leave work, it's me who does as I please, votes for who I please and advocate what I please. Chevron pays me to show up, work, and follow their rules. That's all.
The layoffs have been nasty and cut throat. if you were fortunate enough to still have a job you are lucky. Hard working dedicated employees over the age a 50 were targeted so Chevron did not have to fulfill full pension obligations. After 15 years at this company, I experienced a horrid work environment with no life long friendships, comradery or trust being built at this company amongst colleagues. Only turf battles and uncertainty, backstabbing, and superficial friendships. Saying this is one of the best companies in the US is like saying Donald Trump will be the best president the US ever had. Its all fake news in order to recruit young college graduates who need to beware and run .........There are so many better places to work at from both a career, family and satisfaction standpoint. Don't believe the fake news......Join exxon, amazon, google...stay the hell away from chevron

I am one that worked for another company that was part of a Chevron acquisition. We were paid higher salaries but were held accountable for the work that performed. If you didn't produce you were removed and the positive "spin" that Chevron often puts on things was prohibited. 1sdp speaks the truth it happens all of the time, no accountability no repercussions, come in late leave early. I agree it is easy (for the ones that do take advantage.). There are still some good people here though, just don't rely on management to know make sense of it all.
-roj, for someone who sees the need to check this website on a regular basis, do you feel adequate in your job and at the company you are at (whichever that is)? Do you believe the people let go have irrelevant opinions and are all wrong? Maybe the only one being spiteful and insecure is you. Just a thought.
Chevron has its issues but all in all it's a easy gig, if you know what you are doing.
Compare it to any service company or other operator makes chevron work load look easy. As for the pay: yes we make good money. We make much more then the average person and a good bit more then the service companies. As for the other operators we are way under paid. 25% to 40% but keep in mind they will work you hard compared to us. It's all trade offs. Let me tell you in most groups 50% of the employees do not show up ever other Friday. Also look at the office occupancy at 4:30 or 5:00 it's like a ghost town. Also watch all the people stroll in at 8:30 and 9:00 on any given day.
So when you look at how many hours the average chevron person works compared to there pay, we probable get some of the best $/hr worked pay in oil and gas.
Chevron is a good gig if you can get it or already have it. Easy work with high pay. Advice: Save or invest you money well. Good times don't last for all time.
Halliburton and McDonalds win best places to work. Chevron must have ordered the family and friends inbreds to vote.
Go work in a steel mill then come back and tell us where you would rather work..
