It's time to cut your losses at IBM and work for a forward-moving company. IBM once offered a lot of promise to new employees who saw a bright career ahead with Big Blue. But the company is a shell of its former self and the dire situation will hardly improve in the future, regardless of how much Kool-Aid we drink.
Life is considerably better outside IBM---as a former IBMer I can guarantee you will be infinitely happier while attaining a healthier work-life balance after you leave. Look at IBM as a learning experience that will help you achieve bigger and better things. Everything will fall into place.
As sad as it makes me, this is sound advice. This is not the company it once was, and I don't see it going back to where it once was.
