Sears Canada now has a mono brand apparel line that is replacing all house brands. Much of it is similar to Simply Styled. Geared toward everyone. Priced to sell. They continue to have brands like Levis, however, and have racks of off-price designer fashions like a t.j. maxx.
It is appalling to see how much goes unsold in Sears. Those Laura Scott thin sweaters in a dozen colors, for example. Completely unnecessary.
I think the softlines side will be eliminated eventually at Kmart and Sears also because no one really buys clothes at either locations anymore. People have more options now and it also doesn't help that the brands we sell aren't geared towards the teen to mid-thirty crowds. Once kids hit a certain age, Sears clothes lose their appeal and they want to shop somewhere else. So the bulk of the sales ends up coming from the big ticket areas like appliances and mattresses.
i woudlnt be suprised if eventually clothing is eliminated all together
