Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

GUYS, ITS NOT "Joe White"

Everyone keeps saying "Joe White Joe White" when you freak out about him specifically you are showing how little you know about corporate and how business is done. He is a mouthpiece, a spokesperson. He is NOT running the show. Please stop it. You are embarassing yourselves by fixating on that. Ever since the board executed the Coup against the Molina's, the BOARD is running the show. And the board wants OUT of the business. It's too unstable. Please don't forget that a ROMNEY is the Head Independent Board Director. Look up the Romney family company. Chopping up companies is literally their family business. This same board director's DAUGHTER IS THE CHAIR OF THE RNC!!! Come on people! The entire plan by Republicans in Washington has been to gut Medicaid. And doesn't it make sooo much more sense, and fit in to their narrative, if all of these Medicaid recipients are already managed under a large private Insurance company?? The Molina's were outspoken against the ACA. Do you think that didn't piss off Washington, and go against their ultimate objective? Where do you think that the order to oust them came from? Cause at that time, it was ONE bad quarter. Which was b.s. That's why all news articles used quotation marks when they said "due to financial performance". The Board wants to get their money from the sale and go. Period. If they wanted to turn the company back up, they would have exited Marketplace in all states cause that is causing the bleed. But they haven't. By not doing that, they purposefully made the decision to take the short term quarter loss to make their actions and company sale seem justified and less shady. (That is a confirmed fact from a board member). This being pissed at Joe White thing is like being pissed at the mouth of Sauron instead of Sauron himself. You really wanna get back at them?? Blow THAT story wide open.

Be proactive! Don't wait around to get laid off - start looking for a new job and control your own destiny. Molina has to do what they think is right for their business and you need to do what you think is right for your business!

WOW! Thank you for that logical insight first poster! Very much appreciated. It is hard not to get caught up in emotions in this very dispiriting time, but I personally very much appreciate logic and facts shareing. On the flip side, Is there another sight recommended for just plain venting? If not, we sure need one. Anyone have suggestions?

I agree with your statement below. The problem arise long before it imploded to massive layoffs.

Some of these posts are ignorant. The ACA has been a failure for years, that's why United Healthcare and others starting pulling out a long time ago. The Molina brothers were all in favor of the ACA, even after the everyone else pulled back from the cliff, they just kept going full steam ahead. And here we are. The expansion of Medicaid under the ACA did not help either. Over the past 5 years that I have worked at this company, I saw a lot of growth in membership and contracts but very little preparation in employee hiring and training to deal with the growth. Molina did very little to strengthen it's provider network, and many members simply go to out of network hospitals and providers anyway, mainly because they aren't held financially responsible and don't care about how Molina strives to be "prudent stewards of the public's funds". This problem didn't happen overnight and unfortunately, the Molina brothers may have been fired, but I'm sure they received a nice payout while the rest of us will suffer. I am still trying to understand how a company that strives to serve the underserved has leaders who are making millions.

It doesn't take a genius to know this is not an over night problem. We can blame all VPs who didn't strategically manage their area. Now Joseph White has to take action or the boat will sink and no one will have a job. Use simple common sense.

Besides anthem paying a lot less to their staff. Let's hope they even want to keep remaining Molina staff. For those non-RN or clinical social worker in case management, the layoffs will continued once Molina transitions over. People have back up plans. It's going to get very bumpy.

@OAwzqkj-cxj, well, this is just me, but I did some diggin. I'm and RN Case Manager with a bachelor's in Ohio. Around here, Molina has always paid one of the lowest amounts, but their overall benefits company culture(which is obviously gone now) and friends kept me around. Per Glassdoor, Payscale, and other places I found online, if Anthem does the buying out, and you are an RN, you are gonna want to try to get a job somewhere else. Because Anthem pays significantly less for RN case managers. In this market at least. I can't speak to other areas of the country, as I haven't researched. My guess is that you might want to try to find employment somewhere else if you're an RN. That's my plan/2 cents. Again, can't speak to other fields. But research Inn GlassDoor is a good place to start.

It's not even just Molina. Companies are laying off nationwide in every industry if you are paying attention. We are over due for a recession and we never fully recovered from the Great Recession. Things are going to get bad here soon nationally if not globally. If you have a job, hold onto it. Cut down on your spending and put as much into savings as you can, because it's coming. And we never know we are in a recession until we are smack in it.

Joe White is still part of the problem. He should be standing up for his Molina staff. But instead his using his ability to gain profits for himself and board members. Who wrote this top comment is clearly a republican. People need jobs, others need health insurance and others call for both. People paying for marketplace insurance, for exemple, with Molina, some were paying 120.00 a month (per person) with a 70.00 copayment per office visit (max 3 visits). Then they had to take on their deductible that was over 2k this money was not going to the state but instead to the insurance plan. Do we need health plans for the underserved population, yes, but with a better plan to make it not affordable but realistic to pay and even profitable to health plans. Workers at molina aren't losing their jobs just because of this politics you claim. People are losing their occupations because of lions like joe White feeding us to the dragons. In the meantime, joe White is the face and voice of the decisions you claim he is pressured to be. So with the kind of money he is getting, thanks to government contracts, serving the underserved population of this nation, We will express our freedom of speech as we seeing fit. We need real leaders to stand up for us not sit on us.
