Short-sighted management decisions intended to expedite construction and increase profit have resulted in head count reductions and potentially threaten US leadership in the nuclear industry.
The good folks at Westinghouse deserve better.

There are many businesses around the Pittsburgh area and around the country that were formerly Westinghouse divisions and have thrived since freeing themselves of the upper-level corporate structure. In my opinion (20 year Westinghouse employee) everyone above a first-level manager should be let go as part restructuring, but keep Jose, he's doing a great job in a terrible situation. Customer deliverables would still achieved (cash flow would be unchanged) and the cycle of poor decision making and greed would be broken. Westinghouse customers and the nuclear industry would greatly benefit from the extreme reduction in overhead that would result from upper level management deletion. They add no value. It is time that Westinghouse is managed like the small company it has become. The day of hundreds of thousands of employees are gone, we should stop holding on to the large-corporate management structure.
