Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Scary statistic - 97% of people laid off from COP cannot find work elsewhere

Although other companies are also not hiring for the same reason, it appears that it is widely known the people who were let go from COP were all low-performers and not hiring quality for most other companies.

Plus they spend far too much time crying on discussion boards on the internet rather than training themselves to be better.

I guess managers and supervisors are directed (by?) to put a positive spin on this forum. Seen a few threads suggesting this is happening.

As said by some posters and own experience most people laid off have got better jobs. Now don't be a fool to count retirees and skew numbers for your benefit like the President does.

97%? Really? And you know this how? I suspect it came from another of your many anal extractions. Something I observed when I worked at CoP was that there are many in the workforce who are quick to judge and label colleagues as "low-performers". Look at the second sentence of your post. "Widely known...who were let go from COP were all low-performers..." I'd be willing to bet that Cro-Magnons were capable of more rational thinking than you. But even worse than simple minded twits like you there were supervisors and managers who thought the same way. Quick to judge employees as low-performers (often because they simply didn't mirror themselves and their behaviors) and coddled and favored their "hi-pots". Shoving others under the bus was ( and probably still is) sport for some at CoP. It's been a pretty nasty environment for some time. But it seems the situation with low oil prices has it boiling over.

Where did your statistic come from? I know a lot of people who were laid off and found good jobs. They know nothing, or care nothing, for this message board because they are happy with their new employment and are in an industry where they aren't looking at layoffs every year like we are. There may be some disgruntled ex-employees on this message board, but most of the negative remarks are from people who are still with COP. Any negative remarks are justified, especially from those laid off or fear layoff and if the OP doesn't get that, then he/she hasn't read the title to the message board because it has the word LAYOFF in it.

Well, there may be some truth to that OP! But you will see that there are a lot of people moving elsewhere.

The whole industry is suffering, so people have to move elsewhere.
