It is all about a VERY select few lining there pocket at your expense. It was never about the customer ever it is about making money so THEY can get a bonus and move on. To you millennial dbags and proud of it "leaders" you are expendable like everyone else and I hope in the new order your are the FIRST to go. Work somewhere or 30 years and then report back to me. This poster is dead on

All you naive loyal robot idiots better remember one thing: your next. It doesn't matter how loyal, and how successful you want to be. It doesn't matter how much you "embrace change and technology", If you cost them money and they want to spend less, you are history; get that straight. All the people I know who were "impacted" were top performers, worked tough markets, had high estimate accuracy and ERI. And guess what? They were expendable, and thrown out on their asses with two months notice. They were a liability, and SO ARE YOU. So knock off the BS and understand that.

So work, be pleasant, but we will all be gone. State Farm is moving to mega centers and Allstate is following to cut property/overhead costs. I'd say 5 years tops. The hiring firm for Allsate now asks would you locate to Dallas or NC in next 5 years if need be? hmmmm lol. Managers feel free to chime in with all your knowledge but you are as in the dark as most everyone except top top mgt so go on and drink kool aid.

Read the thread where the managers tell the "toxic" employee to quit. Instead of asking why that person feels that way. I've worked 25 years for Allsate and company has gone downhill I'd say esp with demutualization. I used to know where the company stood and believed them but not sure anymore and I feel it's sad. Maybe I'm "toxic" too I'm not sure what that means.

This is the most articulate and objective post I've seen here. He/she is on point. You can question the way it was communicated, but the bottom line is, business decisions are made. I empathize with anyone impacted by any of these decisions, but if you're in California, you need to understand the risk.

California Comnercial had 9 people reporting to Texas. It was not technology that closed us down. The bad part was we were taking transfer ins. Our choice - get let go, relocate or retire. I was old enough to take the retirement. It was not about technology, or numbers. It's about doing business in Calif and the expenses. We all know California is not a business friendly state so I am sure this is just the beginning. To the person who said claims has never had lay offs. You are not from California In the late 80s early 90s they let people go from around the region. It comes down to a business decision. The way it was handled with no explanation was the bad part. I hope all that were affected are able to find something.

I can't speak for everyone, and I can't blame Allstate for wanting to stay up on technology even if that means letting some go. But this had to be in the making. Why hire someone, have them relocate knowing full well they are going to be laying them off in the next year or two. The Allstate company is one of the worst. They do not work smart, they expect too much out of an employee on a daily basis. The inside people making assignments must not have been trained. The day could have been planned more efficient. Assignments were so out of order and spread apart through out the area. Adjusters were told not to "rearrange" them, work them in the order assigned. Therefore, maybe driving in circles on any given day, burning gas and miles. Don't get me started on "the surveys". The adjusters caught the crap for them. Adjuster in the field doing their very best to keep everyone happy. They got to assignments on time, were very courteous... did all they could do to keep the customer happy, then the customer may call someone on the inside and them be rude to them.Or if and assignment got lost in the shuffle and was days getting looked at, that was the inside's fault, not the adjuster, but the adjuster got blamed. If they had an email address, the customer received a survey on Allstate. Inside employees that made the customer mad caused them to write bad surveys. Who did that come back on? The adjusters in the field. Adjusters were judged on these surveys. None of this was taken into consideration with the "higher-ups". Too many bad surveys and it affected you getting raises or not, even though the adjusters had not control over how the inside employees treated the customers. Many said the tv commercial was false advertisement. Customers said they never received a safe driving bonus. I'm sure someone will have an answer for that, as they will for everything said. All in all, be glad to be out of the "Bad Hands of Allstate". I've never had their insurance and never will. I feel for the customers trying to take their own pictures or who do not have a smart phone, who have to file claims, who will be standing with their "little check" in the end wondering what happened to the customer service and the coverage they thought they had. God bless all still at the company, and good luck to all who were laid off. God has bigger and better plans for you.

Fact Check:

1) Shops will not be writing supplements on tablets. They'll provide live video feed of supplement, (takes them 10-15 minutes max) Allstate adjuster will write it, shop will be paid In hours, not days. Best thing that ever happened for repairers and customers.

2) Shops will always do Allstate repairs. They're in business to fix cars.

3) Total Loss will not be handled the same way.

4) Policies in force are growing

5) Customer satisfaction higher than before.

Facts matter. Know what you're talking about or shut up.

Comsearch is doing our tech reviews. Field supplements have to be done on tablets by shop personnel. No more Allstate adjustments doing them. If shop disagrees they will no longer do repairs for Allstate. Total Loss will be handled the same way. Eliminate people and shareholders get bigger checks. Who cares if they lose customers. There are always more customers.

Head out of the sand ? How naive can you be to think that any responsible company isn't going to take advantage of efficiency gains and automation. Company's that don't won't compete and will risk obsolescence (see Mother Sears). If leaders don't take advantage of technology, data, and digitization, they should be held accountable by shareholders. The fact that we reduce 200 employees (out of an organaization of over 40,000) at a given time should come as no surprise. Pick up the business section and you'll see numbers like 10,000 in financial services company's. Seek and and become competent at a role that can't be automated or digitized, or retrain to become competent at one of the new jobs. Yes, there will be more automation in every industry in the years to come. You can have a pity party, or become relevant.

Of course they try to keep it as quiet as possible. It's only announced if they are legally required to or a reporter gets wind of it. Get you head out of the sand.

These are just a few articles. I was laid off with over 200 people across the country last year and the news only made Roanoke.

I agree with the poster below. After 20+ years, this is the only layoff I've heard of, and it makes me question whether the posters to this site even work for my company. It sounds like they don't, or haven't.

Massive ? I think the number is under 400. Layoffs ? I have also been here over 30 years, and this is the one and only time Claims has ever had a layoff. Facts.

We'll see if you last over 30 years and all the major changes that come. I left after 30 years, not because I had to, or because I feared for my job. I still would have had one after the massive layoffs.

With your attitude, you wI'll not get any respect or cooperation from your peers. Your pompous attitude will be your demise.

Front line leader here (and proud millennial !!) who plans on being successful. I can't be with employees whose ambition is to ride it out, or, oh well....unemployment.

Agree with the previous poster.....move on.

Sounds like a lot of hate for loyal employees or worse, millennials. If I'm both, this person doesn't want to work with me.

I'm fine with that.

"Riding it out" sounds like a horrible way to go through a career and life. Why not embrace the change, excel at a new role and be a leader of your peers ? ( I guess that means I have my head up my a** ? ) I don't feel great about working with employees that are "riding it out", while I'm trying to help make us the best we can be. I have compassion, but to make statements like "they don't have a clue", and "company is going down the toilet" while our results continue to improve, is ignorant of the reality.

Time to get on board, or do yourself a favor, and move on.

@OMISYQz-1zwg, why are you such a pompous jerk? You must be a die hard employee. Or better yet, a millennial. Some people have been through re-orgs in other companies and can see the "writing on the wall". I for one am riding it out. If they keep me here, good for me. If they don't, oh well. Unemployment, and a temp agency. Take your head out of you a@@ and have a little compassion for people who don't understand what's going on, or for people that have dedicated their careers to the company.

"They don't have a clue about the future of the company" ? It sounds like they have a clear vision of the future of the company. You may not like it, but there's definitely a vision. Looks like the stock price went up again.

I work in an office that had a couple of adjusters let go. They were not "over performers".......not the worst in some cases, but not our best. I keep reading we laid off our "best employees" and I feel bad for them, but that's not what happened.
