Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Time to leave if you can

There wil be waves of layoffs until March 2020 or until no-one is left in a high-cost country apart from the country CSM, an HR rep and his tortoise named bob.

If you're in a high cost country and you wage is higher than a happy meal, then there's a good chance you'll be gone shortly. With only 5 years, you may as well get a CV out to the main job boards and specialist agencies and start looking now.

The best that can happen is that you'll be offered a position with a company that is growing, why else would they offer positions ;-) and okay, you lose 2 months salary. But the worst is, that you'll stay on, suffer more restricted policy and penny or dime pinching; leave with 2 months salary and it could take up to 6 months - depending on how marketable your skills are - to secure another role.

Just look now whilst you've still got the safety net of income.

There won't be anybody left by 2020. Just a large creche of kids. Er...graduates, who think they can run the client's business on jailbroken android app.

USPS doesn't integrate with the DXC goal of low-cost / off-shore labor. I fully expect USPS to be spun off or sold within the next two years.

@1vad USPS can reduced personnel not specifically tied to a contract. Some federal and SLED contracts do not have stringent requirements.

RE: Near shore, Puerto Rico is coming for the USPS folks. They can technically meet the U.S. onlyrestrictions around USPS.

Its simple to fix the recruitment project, move the project base to somewhere with high unemployment. In fact Mikey already said that specifically about USPS - well, said it was moving to somewhere cheap nearshore.

Faced with the choice of the soup kitchen or DXC, most would take DXC.

Sad but true.

DXC has a reputation for being an unpleasant place to work where you could be WFR'd at any time, but I held my tongue.

The word is out in the market and its up to Mikie to refer some greedy friends to get those open positions filled.

You give DXC too much credit. I don't' think they are even capable of writing such jd's. It's more a case of ineptitude than any malicious planning.

There was an email recently talking about giving employees a bonus if you could get someone hired on with clearances or other needed skills. I don't know anyone who would try convince to work at DXC.

USPS can't fill or is USPS not allowed to fill at marketable rates?

Is it possible the 1,900 open USPS positions can't be filled because the job posting was deliberately written in such a way that nobody could fill it? If DXC can prove they can't find an American worker they can get H1B permission to hire foreign. Seems awfully suspicious to me.

Agree.

Both CSC and HP grad schemes used to impressive. But now grads are brought in and treated like admin assistants with no direction or support and none of those big projects their interviews promised.

Grads love to post their DXC experiences to social media, job boards, forums and glassdoor. Word spreads fast. Ok so DXC isn't in the top 30 of the grad programmes of the household big brands, but it is a huge company and you'd think they'd want to get the right induction programme for these "6000 kids" as Mike put it.

PROs

Grads love DXC's 'great people' and the fact that DXC has a 'huge eco-system of products'

CONs

Grads have posted that they don't like the 'current low investment in people'; 'no training'; 'low pay'; 'constant cost-cutting'; 'low chances of advancement'; 'travel restrictions'; 'decision-making being global'; 'low morale'; 'no leadership'; 'too disparate'; 'terrible senior mgmt'; 'constant staff changes and reorganisations.'

There's no doubt, kids are expensive, especially if they also leave.

My team had a meeting today where it was stated that USPS has 1,900 open positions they can't fill. I wanted to say it's because DXC has a reputation for being an unpleasant place to work where you could be WFR'd at any time, but I held my tongue.
