Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Store level layoffs

More than likely if field leadership is called into meetings, cuts will be at the store level with hours, expenses, extra payroll, stores to close, etc. I wouldn't think these meetings to include field people such as CAMS and other field people since those were cuts already made by corporate without field leadership meetings prior. They may be called in to "rate" people, but any cuts like they just had would come from HR corp without any final input from field leaders who might be getting "rated" by their superiors as well...all the way to the top.

This was my thinking too, @OMgrIQh-1olz. I am bracing for impact...

Advance will continue to put more pressure on anyone left working for them. It has been a trend of doing more with less as they seem to turn a blind eye to the high turnover and poor sales blaming everything on something other then themselves.

So ... I was one of the CAM's recently laid off ... and then not surprised to see an ad looking for yet another Commercial VP. I wonder if that person will help deliver parts when driver hours are cut ... or come into a store and help long lines of waiting customers check out (because store hours will be cut)

I wonder if that person will be willing to drive 8 round-trip hours to a regional meeting, spend 6 hours in the meeting .... and be back at it no later than 8 am the next morning ...

I've always believed layoffs are MOST challenging for those left behind to pick up the pieces --- and once again, try to retain customers through the churnover (yes; I coined that phrase)

My sincere best wishes to those still onboard.

Personnel discussions earlier this week revolved around identifying "non-essential" staff. Mostly support center team members. Several areas will be outsourced.

At this point I expect that whatever decision that are made will only be a temporary patch and will not stop ship from sinking! Based on the upper management decisions from the past do you really think management can do anything at all to save the ship?
