Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Sun layoffs

So everyone has heard about Sun folks layoff in US. Seemingly, since even higher ups are going , including "acting" directors, no one knows for sure (at least I don't). Hopefully Aug 24th is the last day of layoffs, we are practically a fraction of what we used to be.

If anyone heard anything for sure about Sun/Solaris sustaining and Dev teams, please post here.

Can't wait till August 24th. The unknowns make time click slower. I wish I could ff to Aug 24th

There were some firing at Bangalore (Lexington Tower) office. Where 26 members of Solaris team were let go and 8 of guys working in Kalyani Magnum (Bangalore) building were also let go from the same team.

M8 will happen, likely the coming week. It is/was the blob to the right of M7 on the latest public roadmap

I thought development on most of M8 systems is very closed to completion. I believe these platforms were going to be supported with a Solaris 11.3 update. Are you saying that M8 had shown up on earlier versions of the Solaris roadmap but has recently been dropped?

Was M8 always missing from Solaris Sparc roadmap, or did I just notice it missing ?

I wish someone high up would take mercy on us and send us another "never mind the bollocks" post, which was incredibly accurate in terms of what happened in January. I, too, wish that they would just get this over with Aug 24, but something tells me that it's not the last one. I mean, just 2 weeks ago they decimated the ZFSSA team. Now we have another coming next week. I am sure there will be another in the fall, and so on until they get us down to the bone to meet contractual obligations for customers.

US for sure. Not sure of UK. Heard it could be off till mid Sept, since August 24th would trigger WARN.

Not confirmed. Just through grapevine. I WFH, so difficult to find relevant info.
