Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

More info on Union Pacific layoffs

500 jobs will be management positions and 250 union jobs. They're trying to reach 500 by offering early retirement to those who are 55 years old with 30 years of service. They're also offering up to a year's salary to quit. If they don't get 500 then they will force some to quit. Those who are forced will get either the early retirement deal or the same cash payout.

From what I have heard so far they will hit the 500 with voluntary separation so maybe forced reduction won't be necessary. I haven't heard anything about the union side so I can't help you there.
