Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Evolving Market Space = More Store Closures

During a recent regional visit the boss discussed how the company will be closing another 100 stores. She explained that in order to stay competitive we need to shrink our brick and mortar footprint to a level appropriate for the evolving market space.

The discussion centered on our stores need to improve our MAGIC results or face the possibility of becoming one of locations to be shuttered. Until we stop talking about customer service one moment and implementing staffing cuts the next, improving our declining service standards is not something a store manager will be able to affect. Macy's needs to reduce unnecessary expense and address our #1 customer complaint of not being able to find help in our stores.

Instead of holding frivolous meetings like the one scheduled in Reno this month so that regional and district executives can tie one one, gamble, and joke about coercing store managers into doing ridiculous Gong Show performances, dancing in Conga lines, and having to put up with inappropriate advances and slurred threats while shareholders foot the bill, we should be investing in our stores. The amount on money we spend on travel, hotels, meals, drinks, and similar team building events as well as other unnecessary ego enlarging fiasco's could easily fund desperately needed help in our stores.

We are in the same region and I couldn't agree with you more. Fund the stores. Customer comments tell you exactly what to fix. Bathrooms. Fitting room carpets. More staff to recover floor. More help to cashier on busy days. Glad I'm not the only one feeling this way.

What do you think now that they are cutting top management,at last! It's a one time payout of 25 million and a annual savings of 35 million.

" She explained that in order to stay competitive we need to shrink our brick and mortar footprint to a level appropriate for the evolving market space."

This is management code for a controlled collapse of the company. They can't say that to the peons obviously, so they speak in code for other management and those with a brain to understand.

The peons are clueless as usual, and buy this stuff hook, line, and sinker.

That is why they are peons. No brain, can't read between the lines or think for themselves.
