Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Any bets on when they will start restructuring (nice word for layoffs)

Prices are already going down, how long before they announce restructuring to reduce operating costs? If the prices at Whole Foods go down drastically, they will have to do something to compensate. We are in for a wild ride...

I'm hearing that changes are going to happen fast. Not sure who that affects immediately but I'm guessing layoffs before end of WFM fiscal year

September 23rd, just like 2015, will be layoff day.

From what I've gathered in my research; restructuring the distribution system, a streamlined ordering system and an overhaul of integrated technology between the two, direct to POS are first on the list. Distribution centers and systems technology will be (are being) evaluated first. Next, regional buyers and coordinators will be evaluated then introduced to their new responsibilities. TLs/buyers will then be made aware of the changes in their job requirements. I suspect TLs/buyers will have a 70% focus on local vendors with 30% being allocations (with the produce department being closer to 60% TLs - 40% allos). TLs will spend less time on ordering, schedules, etc. (ie "clerical work") with a greater focus on efficient floor operations, product quality/inventory management (order to shelf) and customer service. Full transition will be over the next 6-10 months with a possible sunset date of Sept. 2018. As of right now, "Super Teams" will progress as scheduled.

Hopefully it will work out. It could be exciting. There is no guarantee, as in the publicly stated "cautionary statement regarding forward-looking statements."

John Mackey indicated in his email no layoffs but he never mentioned that when you turn while foods stores into 365 that there are less positions than your average Whole Foods

Not restructuring "evolve" people where getting smart and realizing restructure means layoff so they reworded it as evolve.
