Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

It's not a charitable organization...

It's a business. Plain and simple. Just because it was founded by two nice brothers from Nebraska doesn't change that. They weren't saints they made a lot of money off the backs of others...as do all business men.

As a business...it was not looking good for the next 10 years and the big stockholders said let's get out before it gets any worse. It makes total financial sense. Tommy is not responsible for less people hunting and fishing.

Bass Pro want to fight it out with Walmart and Amazon in the future...time will tell if they made the right move.

This was not your typical "business is business" move. This was the executive management team colluding to line their own pockets....employees, shareholders, a community that supported that company for 40 years be damned. They outright lied to us. Before accepting a position with Cabela's and relocating my family to Sidney, the recruiter I worked with sent me a YouTube video of Tommy answering a question from the Chamber of Commerce about the company's long term plans.....he flat out lied, stating that Cabela's and Sidney shared a unique and treasured relationship, that the company would remain committed to Sidney for the life of the company. We found out shortly after the September 2015 layoffs that nothing was further from the truth. It is now well known that Tommy and Johnny Morris had discussed a sale off and on for eight years.

Nobody is saying anything about the business deal. Issues are with all the false promises made by executive management. They kept saying that they care about Sidney and following same principals as D--k. And other side they were so much focussing on their short term benefits and kept lying purposefully to employees. So people frustration is about two faced executive management not so much about Business transaction.

Absolutely agree with the reply - my goodness - the Cabela's had every right to sell the company via a stock offering - they actually tried to sell outright although did not have an offer that would work. Where the rubber meets the road - from that point on, when Tommy took the reins, he was the person in charge - and the buck stops at his desk, period - the is the way it is. He did a horrendous job - bringing in a ship full of fools who thought, and I repeat, thought they could do it better - they ran it into the ground - of course they were forced to sell - they could not run the business - absolute chaos with a bunch of big box fools. This isn't D--k and Jim's mess - this is Tommy and crew.

My advice to the poster of this post. Do some research on Cabalas then make your comments.your comments makes no sense and basically are coming from someone who has no knowledge of the situation.
