Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What's the deal with hiring new people just to give them 2h a week?

In our store no one is given over 10 hours a week, yet, we are still hiring. Two months ago we hired 6 new people, did background checks and drug test, paid them for orientation and computer training. Then when they were ready to hit the sales floor they were give two hours per week for two weeks. Three quit on the first day after they saw their schedule and were told the hours would not increase until the holidays. One never showed for their first day and the other two were never on the schedule and called for a few weeks to see when they could start. That was over two weeks ago and haven't heard from them. We are now hiring more people just to not put them on the schedule. Is there some sort of tax break SHC gets from the states if they employ so many people? If there is then SHC is scamming the states. Store in the Southeast.

This has been confusing the heck out of me as well, @OhUnSpn-1bih. Same thing is happening here, ridiculously low hours as it is, and new people keep getting hired, who end up quitting as soon as they look at their schedule. I am honestly curious, does anybody know if there is something Sears is getting out of this? Some tax incentive?

Really that guy was just being sarcastic. That is someone who works in the stores that made a sarcastic comment.

I think they do get some sort of tax benefit. The store as well as our government want businesses to keep hiring that way it looks like the economy is doing just fine, businesses are hiring, people are working and everything is great. Right?
