Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

No vision

Sabre still doesn't have a vision. Menke has been in office for close to 8 months and still hasn't described where the company should be going. One has to question if he knows. If you look at his history, it's all been 'managing the widgets' not thinking strategically about where to take a company long-term. Everyone on the eTeam recognizes that the stock won't come back for many years (past their contracts) and that's where their real money comes from - so expect them to bolt in the next 12-18 months.

It's a sinking ship for 18-24 months - it's too bad, but hopefully someone good buys them at a good price.

You hit the nail on the head, @OjJxqko-4ovx. We are sinking, and nobody is even attempting to change the course. We need both a long-term vision and a short-term boost, but nothing is forthcoming from this leadership.

The whole technology leadership is weak, not just HJ although he is one of the worst. DK ran off all the good ones and now we have the B-team. Let's see if the new guy has the cojones to to weed out this set of political brown-nosers who can't even keep the system up and running.

About DWW SVP of AS moving on. That is really a good thing for it is her type of Leadership that has gotten Sabre into trouble. She is the type that would over commit to make the Customers happy and then would burn every Employee needed no matter the cost to make it happen regardless how ugly or rough it is for the Employees. We have other Leaders still in Sabre who still operate like that such as SVP HJ of Hospitality. Look at the sh-- job he did with ASPD eCommerce but gets promoted as SVP and later takes his lackey AK with him and makes him a VP. True justice would be that on July 31st these two get walked out plus every employee who spends more time "Networking" instead of doing their job and making sure our goals are secure. In other Layoffs we have let go many more knowledgeable folks that knew Sabre in and out and have replaced them with less experience and less expensive resources so no wonder Sabre in the past 5 years has had more outage problems then all the years combined!

DWW SVP of AS moving on. That's a lot of core Sabre knowledge walking out of the door. Unfortunately for Sabre nobody else at the company has that knowledge

I'm hearing more and more about this and a July 31 date. I have always been so proud to work for AA and then Sabre I sincerely hope this isn't the beginning of the end. I've never felt like we just might not make it. Scary stuff.

"...changes and bold decisions" LMFAO

More like knee-jerk reactions. And these "bold decisions" you speak of are continually wrong decisions that just keep recurring every couple of years. I cannot even count how many ill-conceived, barely thought out decisions have been made only to replaced with the latest trend someone read about in a magazine.

Bad hiring is all of you who are scared and generating panic... Sabre for sure needs to get rid of such people and hire hard working people prepared for changes and bold decisions as this is business, guys! If you ever thought they are an NGO, so sorry for you!

Yes, these type of hiring mistakes are rookie mistakes by a small company who hasn't been around long enough to get clout. We probably need to look at Microsoft, Amazon, or Google to see if we hire someone worthy of a leadership role. The board of directors is a joke.

I'd beg to differ... the impending 27%+ reduction is a start. You're about to see a lot of change and vision but your role probably won't be in their sights. Sorry but move on!

No Vision is 100% right.

Another relates issue is the quality of recent executives that Sabre has hired, especially EVPs. Not sure what the issue is there. Examples - Past CTPO who drove the P&T group to the ground and HR EVP.

Hiring mistakes such as these are very hard to recover from
