I wanted everyone to know that if you do get laid off, you can get unemployment benefit. Please don't forget to look into this benefits. Even if you get a big package. People please be smart. Walmart is running to fix problems. Anyone that has worked from Walmart knows that the system is broken. And the board really needs to wake up. Before it is to late. I will never let my husband work there again. Walmart is losing great people. I would love to know how they decided who to layoff. Do they just draw names out of a hat? Walmart is not sure what to do or how to win the game, so it is trying anything to stay in the game. Desperate people will do desperate things!

This family did get laid off and yes we did get it. So, please take the time to apply. You will get it after Walmart stops paying. Not matter how much money you make. You paid in, you get it.
If you can wait until you receive your termination compensation before filing. It will make the paperwork much easier.
Max unemployment in Arkansas is 451 per week. 25 weeks.
You will not receive a check the first week that you apply.
Unless you are let go "with cause," you are eligible for AR unemployment assuming you've worked long enough. I think "long enough" is at least 1 year but I'm not certain - so you'd need to verify. If you are let go "with cause" you are not eligible for unemployment as I understand it. I expect this directly relates to whether you are "eligible for Walmart rehire" or not.
Here's the deal. As of last September anyone (including officers) can get unemployment after the 1 week wait after the last day of their 60 day notice AS LONG AS YOUR SEPERATION WAS MARKED LACK OF WORK. If HR or your supervisor codes your separation as performance, then you will not be eligible. I know first-hand of officers and non-officers who all received unemployment. You paid into it, you deserve it.
Two yrs ago it was part of the severance acceptance pkg. unemployment could not be applied for until 6 months after term date. i see no reason for that to change but who knows.
Unemployment benefit varies by state. For Arkansas, you can claim even if you get a severence payout, you will not get paid benefit for that week and will have to call the workforce office to unlock your account. There are more details getting started but it is option.
What position did he hold?
If you get a severance package you can not get unemployment for months. They will probably denied it anyways. If they offer you a different job you really are not eligible.
@OP This has been speculated in previous threads. I suspect that the powers that be come up with the hit list. It goes to Legal. They will either approve it or not. If they don't, they will say why. For example, there may too many older associates on the list and they could be sued for age discrimination. Leadership will then add to the list to balance it out so WM cannot be sued. This continues until legal approves the RIF list. Then, associates careers' become history.
Let your husband?.....just wow.
