Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Where are the necessary changes?

Here is my question, what is DXC doing different today that CSC/HPE did not do the last few years. What will produce the profit to care for employees and clients. So far I see no plan other than cut cost. Which effective for only a going out of business sale.

Ask yourself if there is the change needed to make this a viable concern.

So much this, @OnujxxO-1noa. I don't see that we have done anything concrete to move in a new direction, anything that would actually get us back on our feet. Cutting people to cut costs is easy, but will lead nowhere in the long run. We certainly need to change something...

@Oq62usN-1xdb - it is sort of a name for systems somewhere else. However the somewhere else used to be outsourcers like DXC but not its the software vendors themselves... Office365, SAP cloud to name but two.

You rarely install a server for anything anymore, its from the vendor. We do this ourselves in DXC and it saves us loads of money. If we do it, why wouldn't the customers?

That is what is killing outsourcing.

Cloud services what a crock of bull sh--, nothing runs in the cloud. Its all hosted somewhere, you need security between application , Database and Web server's and that's not a easy thing with Cloud on which systems can reach what .

You need storage, you need a way to back up your data and restore specific files in case you delete something you didn't mean too.

You need smart people who can talk in the same language both technical and business to design and customize your applications.

Cloud / digital transformation is all another name for computers .......

"The computer service/outsourcing business is dying a slow death. It is being killed by cloud services and standardized business software available at very low cost to anyone with an internet connection. "

Well put.

The computer service/outsourcing business is dying a slow death. It is being killed by cloud services and standardized business software available at very low cost to anyone with an internet connection. Businesses no longer need custom software and people to support it, and what support they do need can be provided more cheaply in Asia and Eastern Europe as broadband connections circle the globe. CSC, DXC, EDS, HPE, and all the other computer service/outsourcing shops will slowly die.
