Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Another Beautiful Day at Sears-Amazon!

Our DM came in to the Store today and confirmed that the amazon announcement was just the tip!

In the coming days there will be a series of major announcements regarding the new strategic partnership with Amazon and we were told to begin really beefing up shipping/receiving. Most of the larger Sears stores will be converting to mini-hubs for Amazon. It sounded like a win win for everyone.

One section of the store is going to be converted into a display for Amazon's Gold Box and Featured items. This area will get tore down and reset on a daily basis featuring whatever item Amazon will be trying to push that day. I think its going to be called "Amazon Showroom - powered by Sears". This will give Amazon an instant physical presence in 90% of the country. This is apparently what we gave up in exchange for the sweetheart deal we got with them for Kenmore.

More to follow.

Sounds like people are so brain washed that Sears is going to survive they will believe anything at this point.

No, Amazon isn't going to bail Sears out of Eddies mess. If anything, you will see a lot of the crappy Simply Styled clothing on Amazon post bankruptcy.

There's no way this would happen simply because of the current physical condition of Sears and KMart stores.

Interesting thanks OP. It wouldnt surprise me if this were true. Retail is in the midst of an evolution, I can see hybrid online and physical stores merging more in the future (similar to what Amazon have done already with their book store) i struggle to see the success of it occurring in malls though which are on their death bed.

Our DM came in to the Store today and confirmed that the amazon announcement was just the tip!

In the coming days there will be a series of major announcements regarding the new strategic liquidation and we were told to begin really beefing up our resumes. Most of the larger Sears stores will be converting to abandoned buildings. It sounded like a win win for Eddie.

One section of the store is going to be converted into a display for Sears future. This area will get tore down. I think its going to be called "The slowest liquidation in history - powered by Sears". This will give Sears an instant laughing stock appearance in 90% of the country. This is apparently what we gave up in exchange for Eddie being our CEO.

Just today I saw a normal guy in a Toyota Camry with a trunk full of Amazon packages delivering to homes. Why not use Sears warehouses and the thousands of home service technicians repair trucks to help make deliveries and do installs. Explore the possibilities.

I hate that I can no longer tell what is truth and what is someone's idea of a "joke". This board is slowing becoming useless. It was nice in the beginning when we had real people trying to figure out what was going on with the company. Now it's full of trolls. Time to move on!

He is telling the truth. Sears warehouses getting ready to receive Amazon products to warehouse deliver... and install

I work at a Sears and it is truly awful. We haven't had a customer in months, parts of the mall have been taken over by rival bands of feral cats, so even if there were customers, the stench of cat urine and the unholy cacophony of mass feline fornication are so overwhelming, I can't imagine they'd stay long.

In my region, an Amazon store opened with mainly books and kindles. People go because they're desperate for a book store since Amazon's pricing led to many of our independents to close years ago. We also have 3 Amazon distribution centers nearby that seem to be hiring frequently. I guess we need a Sears Amazon hybrid too? No. No we don't.

OP might have a point. There was a study out where Amazon had pretty much reached or was nearing saturation. The only way they can grow is to have a place where people can physically touch the merchandise.

On the other hand, just the tip was what eddie told Leena too.....

When "days to come" is mentioned, is that days, weeks, months?
