Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Lose good instructors = lose students = lose money

As a former employee, I must agree with several posts.....as things went bad all the upper management could do was blame the instructors......constant scrutiny and lack of resources made the instructors jobs not only difficult but unrewarding....so much time was spent filling out paperwork and taking needless online training on topics that had nothing to do with classroom work, only discouraged instructors that were constantly being asked to take time out and sit in front of a computer on their own time with no compensation....unfortunately many good instructors left and this hurt the students.

True, @M7lQV7w-2ibia. Unfortunately, management can't figure out that loosing good instructors is really bad for EDMC in the long run. It's simple math, but it's not instant money in their pockets, so who cares, right?

Srd, quit. Resign. What you're describing has gone on for years and will go on until the company dies. You can do what I did if you want to walk away with something of value, look the SDOA square in the eye and tell them you refuse to enroll unqualified candidates. They will fire you after that but at least you did the right thing.

2z0y: My bet is you have never had to work with the students that are complaining. The faculty at my school are great and do their best to work with some students that have failed many times before. These are the same students that think just because you sit in a class you deserve a passing grade and eventually a job. They don't understand that you have to work for anything. You can call it fraud to try and help these people but they have to pull themselves up and work hard. There are many students that don't belong but even after they are told they "don't have it" they continue on their way. Do they get better... no. Someone is paying for their education whether it be the government or a rich parent. New students are told where to look at career stats and told to research degrees BUT THEY Don't . The only one telling them they can be the next Disney concept artist is their own head. I am tired of stupid people blaming the school. I know our school has great faculty and short of wiping their bottoms we assist them in any way we can . I am not not admin. I am just sick of working hard and expecting to do miracles.

Icfc.

This site is exclusive to EDMC employees and layoffs? Since when? Quit trying to make this cesspool of a site and company anymore than what it is--a conspiracy to defraud.

There is no exclusivity to this forum just a place where despite the arbitration gag and the apologists for shady behavior some occasionally tell the truth about the worst instincts of an orgaization of inveterate douche bags

So stop the crap you've said it before ad nauseum.

why don't you complainers head over to the "I am AI" blogs and rant away. This site is for posting on company business and the sale of EDMC. Not whiners who never had any intention on paying back college loans and looking for any excuse to get out of their responsibilities. Community colleges would have been a much cheaper option then AI. Their graduation rates aren't any better then for-profits but you could probably afford the tuition. But be forewarned as Trump pushes ahead budgets for government subsidized education will be cut to the bone and no campus will be free from tuition spikes.

The problem is tuition is too high. Parents + students price shop and are going to state colleges.

ADAS are the glue that hold the scam together. Can't live without them.

How about lose good ADA’s and lose money? You have managers that get fed this idea that numbers is what makes anything great. You mix that up with micro management and your wee pressure, you lose the employees that truly values education. Management talks about having he right student but then they say, you should’ve had more sets, interviews and applications to make the team goal or your own personal goal. Then when you have all that and feel that the student is not the right fit, then management accuse you of not having effective conversations with students. I don’t need a Doctoral degree (no offense to who has one) to make my own assessment. Education is not for everyone. Education is not for sale. If a student does not want it, they don’t want it.

I’m down to stike for one week. Everyone stop what they are doing and walk out or call in sick the next day. Just let”production” come to a vault AND management will listen. This piece of advise is called experience. You can’t get that type of advice by paying $100,000.

You go, dsr! I left this corrupt organization in 2012 and even then, I knew that Goldman had corrupted it for a few years. BTW, I was a teacher too. The only people remaining for the past few years are

those who are frozen there and are either new hires or have been lucky enough to survive the regular purges. It would take an ice pick to dislodge them from the "awfulness" that is EDMC. They have nowhere else to go.

Unless you are a complete dolt when will you stop compatmentilizing your complicity in keeping this shady scam going.

Your analysis of what happened at EDMC is disturbing and shows zero self reflective insight on your part.

Enough with the blame shifting. The writing was on the wall years ago for all the weasels to see.

Including you.
