Could someone who has been laid off recently please provide details on what the package you received consisted of?
In particular I'd like to know:
How many weeks of salary you received
Is this based on the number of years worked, or is this determined by one's manager?
How many weeks or months of health insurance coverage the company paid for

If you are older and/or have family coverage, health care (medical, dental and vision, especially medical) coverage through COBRA can be very expensive so start looking at other options (ACA/Obamacare, etc.) if one does not have an option of coverage through spouse's employer/plan.
I was in the pre-sales group in the US. The package was 4 weeks for the first year, and one week additional for every year of service. I believe health coverage was through the end of the month, then Cobra.
