Get to know your State Laws. Laws vary state to state.
They are are using loopholes. They will layoff in small numbers so they don't have to compile. Layoffs will come with NO WARNING.
I think Macy's is in the clear on the WARN Act:
The WARN Act also is not activated when the following coverage thresholds are unmet:
If a plant closing or a mass layoff results in fewer than 50 workers losing their jobs at a single employment site;
If 50 to 499 workers lose their jobs and that number is less than 33 percent of the employer’s total, active workforce at a single employment site;

If you are offered a package and turn I down, that's it and you can not file for unemployment.
If you are offered another position and no package and you turn it down you can not file for unemployment.
What department?
So Very Very Sorry. I'm just waiting to hear more over the next few weeks, even though we have made our sales goals and credit goals.
They are being offered severance packages today and they have the opportunity to apply for other positions in the company. I'm pretty sure from past experience that if they get offered a position and turn it down they lose their severance offer.
Let go with a package? Or just goodbye???
