XOM to acquire OXY rumors

Rumors around XOM are that they are looking to acquire OXY to strengthen presence in the Permian. Other companies (Pioneer for example) are also being considered. Could be a win-win situation. XOM becomes largest operator in the Permian in one deal and Oxy no longer has the "dividend problem". Focus on growth vs focus on a crushing dividend that is limiting potential. Still a long shot but would be announced in the 4th quarter if it ends up happening. Decrease in WTI/Oxy stock price over the next quarter would help make this deal possible. Something to watch out for as a game charger. The wheels are in motion.

I guess the guy who tells others to stop living in the past (while spewing 10 year old rumors) and who believes spewing said baseless rumors (apparently that adds 'value') doesn't like it when someone stands up to him. Perhaps Oxy and its track record of failure, along with victimizing and persecuting certain people (because that's what a great company with great employees does) is exactly where this stupid idiot belongs.

XOM rumor was going round in 2007, so stupid is as stupid does with your arrogant comment. Ill comment as I see fit given the worthless garbage Oxy bought (Salt Creek, Cogdell, Sharon Ridge) when I was working West Texas. My comment stands, as does the situation that XOM wouldn't be stupid enough to get involved with a company such as Oxy, its assets that they have a history with or the kind of bigoted people who now run a rapidly downsizing, stagnant and failing company. Perhaps you should read the previous post and you can take a look in the mirror at what stupid is.

XOM was mostly out of the Permian for the longest time. It has increased its presence here recently (Bass family assets). They finally woke up. Stupid? Stop living in the past. Your comments are seriously pointless and add zero value. We'll see what happens. XOM is a slow moving train. If this happens, it won't happen over night. The Pioneer acquisition is probably more realistic in my opinion but Oxy's name is being thrown out there so it might be a worthy discussion. Either way, they are not done with the Permian. Likely any new assets would be managed by XTO.

Half the assets in West Texas were sold to Oxy by XOM in the first place. Why would a performing company like Exxon buy back garbage it duped the idiots at Oxy in to buying off them in the first place? Are you stupid or something?
