For those not interested in contract work, don't count it out! Lots of companies use contract labor to get the work done and need this kind of flexibility due to the on-demand economy we are in. As a contract worker though, you have to be smart about the rate you'll work for and negotiate your deal, keeping in mind the taxes you'll pay and healthcare costs you'll be responsible for.
You may find yourself doing work for several different companies at once who want your particular skill. It can be refreshing though to actually be part of the discussion about your value and to work for a company that appreciates what you bring to the table.
