Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowe's is laying off seasoned workers to rehire them at lower pay

All drivers at our store were informed that the new delivery "strategy" is to eliminate all driver positions come the end of August.

We can be rehired after last day as day one new employee. So guys with more than 15 years of dedicated service get raped of all seniority.

Any driver knows that the long days are not just because of the so called delivery. They come from removing old appliances, from taking apart customer homes to fit appliances in the house, from ASMs telling customers we will move a fridge to the garage or basement, from selling items not in stock (ICBs), from flatbed loads not being pulled, from driving 40 minutes between deliveries because of the next day promise, from over riding and overloading the trucks. But go ahead and blame the drivers who rarely even get a chance to take a real lunch break and go ahead and believe that this eliminating us will change anything. It will change. It's going to s--- for the customer. Because we really tried very hard to take care of our customers but apparently "good customer service" and helping them " love where they live" is all b---s---. The real credo should be to do the least amount possible and increase profits at all costs and sell, sell, sell.

If I was a delivery driver in the stores that it wasn't removed from I would be looking for either another position in the company temporary or another job some where else. Guys the writing is on the wall here. No more IN HOUSE delivery eventually. Take this opportunity and find better before you are the one with seniority gone and can't fix it.. Those that have their position eliminated can't get another position until AFTER they are let go.. They are kind of screwed. You know this going to happen to you some day in the near future. They tried to easy you by giving a small raise and SSEI payout bump but thats only to try and keep you. LEAVE NOW!!!

Don't burn up all your vacation time for the year, only what you have accrued so far. They will take what you overspent out of your last check.

I'm a driver at store that isn't eliminating my position... yet. I'm not sure which is worse, knowing I'm gone so I can start moving on, or continuing to go to work each day unsure of how much time I've got left. I think I'll just move on with the rest of you guys.

Clock in on time, don't piss anyone off and do as little a possible to get through the day. There

is no individualism here and we all get lumped in to the same bucket as those who can't make it

in on time 4 days a week. So, why bother. If it makes you feel good then great but don't expect

anything in return including job security. Retail overall has become cancerous whether you work

for Lowes, Depot, Target or Walmart. Anyone even considering making a 'career' out of this should

have their head examined. There will be more to come Kiddies and I'm counting the days until

retirement next year.

I have been a driver w/Company for 6 years...have countless cust compliments, too many to count...i have gone the extra mile and carried countless orders (some as high as 6k of lumber) by hand bc machine could not get where customer needs...never have been written up, never call out, no tickets, no accidents, no property damage to customers property (slide merchandise in garages, across lawns, fresh ashphalt), i have put out countless fires that 3rd party creates with box truck issues, have been told I am my store managers (who I really do have a genuine positive liking for, he is a good guy) favorite employee in 15 years as Manager, bc I always have a great attitude and have never not done anything he has asked of me...i have shed blood, sweat, and tears for company and I am the one being laid off, to save $$...but ceo made 12.7M last year...very frustrated by company's cont'd disregard for the good employees that got them where they are...cust service is going to be impacted in a negative way...and 3rd party is not going to be able to handle it...they can not handle box truck in market...no good

I've noticed how much of a better deal the ASMs who were let go got and the same with the department managers. I'd be using up my vacation days asap. And flipping the middle finger to Lowes.
