Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

"The List" makes NO SENSE!

I'm at a lost for words here on how this stupid list was compiled.

We have incompotents, redundants, old, young, high paying, entry level, remote, local, global, hard working and slackers.

WTF IS THE THOUGHT PROCESS!

In Sabre, hiring is done based on friends and family. Qualifications, skills, experience dont matter.

Well, what have you given to Bangalore to take it back? We are just dumb a--s made to operate as order takers by those Sr. Managers and Directors in Dallas. If there are managers who don't have people reporting to them in Bangalore or any location - what are the VPs and Directors doing about it? Sabre is not one of those mature organizations that understands how globalization can help them create competitive advantage that is much beyond cost. Companies like HP, IBM, Amazon even Amadeus are far ahead in globalization and it is too late for a sinking ship to realize .

It's just a number. There is no thought process anymore than just that. If they layoff a mix of age, race, nationality and spread it across the company no foul can be claimed against the company.

Unfortunately good people are let go. I look back from 3 years ago when I was let go and am still surprised how certain people that I witnessed taking advantage of the company with their power and they are still floating along.

I can't explain the hardworking vs slackers, or the incompetents vs fantastic people who were laid off, however to protect themselves from litigation the company has to lay off a range of people. The list would have been reviewed to ensure there were not too many old, too many ethnic minorities, too many women, too many contributors and not enough VPs, too many in global locations and not enough in Southlake, etc etc. I'm sure people ended up on that list because they balanced the above criteria rather than any other reason.

Absolutely correct . I see some managers don't have anybody reporting to them in bangalore . but still they are safe and all low level people were targeted who were getting less salary
