Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle dumps Java... Confirmed

I read @P0heqBA and noticed he said Oracle was dumping everything sun related including Java. I found that hard to believe but a few google searched confirmed it.

Oracle is looking to move Java EE off into an open foundation for future development.

Oracle continues developing Java EE 8 as the Enterprise Edition with the official release expected before the end of the year, but following that, they are looking to move Java EE into some existing foundation to steward the project moving forward.

Oracle has made it much harder to get Java. You can only get the latest release. Older versions require an Oracle Support account to get access. $$$$$

Java EE is not Java, rather an enterprise technology built on top of it. It is the past not the future and I guess this is Oracle acknowledging that. I'd be astonished if Oracle were to do a similar thing with core Java.

If they're not making money off of it, this move makes sense. Not sure if this relates to layoff tho...

I'd say that the core of Oracle tech is written in Java. Fusion middle ware is 100% Java. They dumping FMW too? Whole point is controlling the most popular cloud based programming language might seem important to a cloud company.
