Wow that last post I hope they got what they wanted - sounds like they are on the edge as it everyone - how about NIKE come in after these things and give the employees some emotional support - this environment sounds very stressful - life is too short!!!
@zjt - we know it's rough out there but we also know that the market is up and that the unemployment is at a 20 year low. so, the market is good, indexes are at the all time high. if you do not accept these officially published numbers, find a forum that deals with alternative numbers...
it's hard for folks who cannot adopt to 2017 style of doing business (fast paced, ever changing, flexible, digital, etc.) but most nike folks will adjust just fine - we are trained here to be nimble, have a perspective and to put in as much effort as required to succeed. nike has always had a huge filter that prevented mediocre folks from getting hired - so, if you made it in you are likely a strong resource no matter what.
so, as the poster below me said - godspeed and move forward - we'll be fine.
God Speed Nike Ninjas! Hopefully the layoffs will provide some sort of severance. Just a pitstop in the path of life....the smug pretentious individuals that will stay so be it...off to the forest!
What an incredibly callous response. Yes, it is happening at a lot of other companies. Companies like Nike that did a poor job of adapting to a new consumer, new ways of communicating, new ways of shopping, and new ways to do business. That said, there are still lots of companies out there that are growing AND prospering. Look for those that are at an innovation inflection point. You'll find that these companies DO like your Nike experience. I'm ex-Nike, and like most who are ex-Nike say... life after Nike is good.
But for @P13E5Bt-zjt, you're right about that for yourself, because your attitude is crap.
Some of you would do well to take a gander over on "Latest Posts" where to your surprise, you'll find this is happening everywhere, not just Nike.
Time to poke your head over the rim of your fishbowl.
No, you won't be "an excellent employee somewhere else" because "somewhere else" is massacring its employees as well. Too bad this is news to you folks.
A cliche - all large companies say this
We are all special snowflakes
I want the package really bad. Been wanting it for a long time. I really hope my manager gives it to me. I pray for it every morning and night. I am about to march into my manager's office and scream at the top of my lungs, "Just give me the package now! I am sick of waiting for it and can't take it anymore."
