Does it really matter what position he held? A man is dead and all you guys care about is what position he held so you can either bash the media or prove some point.
It's true. He was a CSA. I can't even believe the media mis-reported that.
How about you lazy people just look him up on Pebble. He did not work for the Asset and Profit Protection department. He was a Consultative Sales Associate.
Well I didn't know the NEWS reported...lord knows its FACT if the NEWS reports it.
@1yjj Various news outlets report that he was a loss prevention employee, which is "security" at Sears. I am always amazed at the idiots who speak as though they are an authority on something when a simple online fact check might enlighten them to the truth.
Very sad. This isn't a Sears-specific problem because this happens everywhere, but it is sad nonetheless.
There is a rumor that the 81-year-old was a sales associate and not an AP associate. Most stores have no physical AP, and the 81 year old, God rest his soul, did what he believed were his best intentions (most older people grew up in the days where shopkeepers and stores didn't take any s--t from thieves and scammers, because society wasn't sue happy back then. When you were in the wrong, you were in the wrong, period, and you didn't win settlements for being tackled to the ground for stealing like you do today, so that's why stores are really particular about apprehension.
Even apprehending AP associates have to have all their T's crossed and their I's dotted before they act, because even with evidence, slithering snake defense attorneys will somehow turn everything as the "store's" fault and will win a settlement even if the evidence is there because we are no longer giving proper justice anymore.
I hope this ruthless killer will get nothing less than the death penalty. This poor old man dutifully showed up to work and never came home.
Very sad.
Damn, you know this country is in bad shape when a poor 81 year old man is still working and working at a sh--ty job like this...my best to their family and yeah I hope set family sues Sears as well.
He was a sales associate, not security. They probably had no security. He should have let them walk out. He acted instinctively though. RIP. Sad story. Let it be a lesson to all the other associates. Dont be vigilantes. Its not worth it.
I hope the family of the 81 y/o sears asset protection employee who was killed sues Sears for setting him up in such a dangerous job. At that age it is only common sense that he would be ill equipped to deal with the low life scum who would come in to steal. Crazy pond scum.
Working at sears has sadly became dangerous, most stores have no security, no loss prevention, non working out dated security cameras, broken building full of bugs, fleas, asbestos, safety concerns and dangers all over the building, limited to no training.
This is a tragic horrible story but why did they hire an 81 year old to stop shoplifters? Makes no sense. I hope these low life's who did this are shown some "LOVE" everyday from their fellow inmates scumbags!!
