Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

The guys left Oracle in the first round

Are you OK now? Already started new jobs?

I left Oracle in Jan 2017, but haven't tried to hunt jobs, still at home.

RIF'd Jan 19, 2017.....still out of work. Hardware on the east coast is a slightly different environment. Medical device companies require experience with various FDA standards, and IOT folks generally require a much deeper coding and mechanical experience. Lynda.com and certifications for Six Sigma Belts and the like are a good thing to go after. Unemployment ran out last week....though I still have a couple of irons in the fire. (interviewed 1st time, awaiting 2nd interviews)

I was RIF'ed in Jan from Microelectronics. Took me 3 months. I am at QCOM now. Much rewarding job. Learning new things, earning more and definitely more satisfied. And yeah F**k Penny Li and Rodrigo Liang.

"Went to AWS .,. Long hours, zero work life balance"

Which explains why so many employers like to hire the wunderkinds from the elite schools. They don't hire Podunk State U grads.

Went to AWS, like it so far. Long hours, zero work life balance, stress is up, good pay, learning a ton, strong team, average manager.

I was let go in Jan. Took me about 3 months to land a new job. I am a program manager. I had interviews with amazon, intuit, servicenow, teradada etc. I ended up working in a big cybersecurity company. Work is a lot more busy than oracle but it's so much more fun and rewarding. The new employer has candy monday, bagle Friday, Phils bbq party, etc. Feel like the Sun era in 1999.
