SUSE have a lot of open positions which could appeal to Solaris devs https://jobs.suse.com/

For those laid off, don't despair, it's not the end, don't do anything rash, drastic, or something that will harm your friends and family permanently. If you or someone you love is having thoughts of joining SUSE, call 1-800-GET-HELP. Your call is free and confidential.
Really interested in knowing the right way to proceed. Afa kernel dev goes is only Linux and some win/mac may be. What is the best way for solaris engineers to get back to job? At this point I don't really care about kernel development.
Sorry to hear this sad news. For those seeking other opportunities, Qumulo is always seeking systems engineers and folks interested in filesystem and kernel development.
