Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I need advice, I have a recording of the brilent messave from Larry's JO man

So I have a recording Edward Screven laying off people, shall I publish it to show Oracles lack of respect for people? Families this a-- has interrupted. Any advice is welcome and where can I post it for maximum effect. I don't give a sh!t about any severance from this jack off, have enough money to survive, this about what is right.

OP, I'm with you. but no one will listen to Screven's cold, heartless, tasteless pre-recoreded parting message. It's shame that the upper management did not has gut to deliver the message face to face. Just let this layoff experience go. Best of luck for your next chapter.

You're right, I'll keep it to myself. Thanks.

OP, the risk is very good reason not to do this. I also think it's better just to take the high road here. The fact that Oracle did through a conference call is already out there. I think anyone reading this thread will understand how the call went down. The sad truth is that most people really won't be surprised given the reputation Oracle has for how it treats their employees and customers.

I'd love to hear it! BUT, there would be risk to yourself even from public net connection with VPN. And it's morally wrong, even though the way they do things is more morally wrong. And as @nbu said, the only benefit is to people who still work at Oracle. At this point can you imagine anyone who works at Oracle who does not fully appreciate that the company puts zero value on employees? Can you imagine anyone who has the ability to get out to a better company, who is not already trying?

Screvo is the Chief Corporate Architect or whatever that is meant to signify. Sounds like a role where you buy companies and fire all the employees. People with families and responsibilities. Real people.

Publish it on YouTube and LinkedIn as "Edward Screven's End of SPARC announcement to Oracle employees". Add it to Register's Facebook.

I agree with the peeps who say post a transcript. Be sure to include everything -- I hear his signoff was a hoot.

Later someone can get Jim Parsons to record it.

Posting a transcript is the safest way to get it out . Then let media interested in publishing give their phone contact info on this board and you can call them with a blocked number .

Having heard the EMEA version of the announcement, which was slightly different, I'd be interested to read a transcript of the US one that my other colleagues got to hear.

It might be safer (for you not getting caught) simply to post a verbatim written transcript. And if you are afraid wherever you post it to simply drive to a public library a new towns away that has internet access and post it from there. Good luck, but be careful.

Only if you can post it anonymously. I am sure Oracle thought it would get recorded, but they have a big legal team that is not afraid to go after people. You signed an agreement that Oracle proprietary info would remain proprietary after you left the company. You signed this when you started at Oracle.

The only advantage I see is for the people who are still employed at oracle. They will know how they will be treated in the future, they will hear how their last day may sound like. These people may take precautions and prepare for a day like that.

I know I was loyal to this company and worked long hours. And didn't jump on other apportunities just to stay with these great people I worked with.

I wish someone showed me that audio. I would of taken care of myself. Now I'm unemployed.

You can be sure everything he said was from a script, the script was vetted through Legal, and they expected someone to record it.

But sure, please post it. It'd be fun to hear the rationale of disrupting the lives of so many people who gave their talent to O.

Well I had to think about this , but here is what I think. I think you should "firstly" post this to the Oracle executives beyond those involved and ask them if this is an acceptable way to treat "people" , "loyal employees" some of whom have spent well over 20 years at the company. Is this what they want Oracle known for as those employees well educated and talented now go to work for Oracle customers and competitors. Now if you get no response or unsatisfactory response then you need to ask , will putting this on social media just be "retaliation" or is there some "good" to be achieved such as preventing this happening again next time. If you conclude there is indeed some good ...then yes you ought to post , after first approaching the other Oracle execs.
