How to bury layoff news

I lost a lot of friends in this layoff. I'm in hardware but not part of the groups that were affected. It irritates me that our director has chosen not to speak about it during our staff call this morning. It reinforces our impression that senior management is being purposefully complicit in trying to bury this news.

No need to bury layoff news. The mainstream media doesn't care about layoffs anymore, and neither do its readers, so they don't talk about them. People have come to expect them as a fact of life. Plus a layoff of 2000 people in a company with 100K+ employees isn't news anymore, it's just noise.

That tells you something about the level of maturity, or rather the lack thereof, at the LE, MH, SC level. These overpaid a--holes don't have it in them to be honest about layoffs that everybody already k owns about. How childish and sad!

It seems that management has been read the riot act about talking about RIFs. Everyone is being freakishly silent about last week's cuts. I asked my LM about it, and he said he was not allowed to talk about it or answer questions, even 1on1. He's always been really forthcoming about this stuff in the past. So someone is putting LOTs of pressure on these guys to keep quiet when talking to the rank and file.

It looks like someone is posting excerpts from my original post to "Why can't we get more media coverage" to this this topic and to "Oracle Timing of Layoffs".

I don't know why this person is doing these reposts.

The Directors are making very large salaries, bonuses and stocks, and are not about to rock the boat.
