Oracle is pretty stealthy about their layoffs....I have never seen anyone report that "Oracle Announced Layoffs".....and yet we know they pretty much happen like clockwork.....every quarter it seems. I am sure Oracle would promote this "re-balancing" as a good thing to stock holders should they ever raise the issue....but in the case of SPARC/Solaris, it is clear to me that this is not just about re-balancing, but extracting themselves from a product line. (even if selling it to someone else was possible, that would just be just too visible.)
With his advanced age and senility, LE's horizon seems to be quite a bit shorter than that.
long-term thinking is not the point here, as we all know.
