Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Watch who you take advice from

Anyone commenting here who was hired before 2012 is working under a completely different set of rules and benefits than employees who are currently being hired. Just 2 years ago they cut the bachelor return home trips from 3 to 2, but only for new hires. You will get two, your office mate will get three. Old rents were around $400-$500 a month. New rents exceed $1000. To summarize: Not a good idea to take advice from those working and living under a different set of rules than you will be living under.

This was posted by @OUvX5vT-elce in another thread, but I thought it needed to be its own thread for the importance and validity of information. Things have changed in the past several years at Saudi Aramco, and while those who have been here for a while are not affected, the new crop of people certainly is.

The only thing owed to employees and candidates is truth. Saudi Aramco is seriously lacking in that area.

Its not wasted when it exposes your bitterness and vacuous commentary. People need to make informed decisions concerning the company whether to join or not join and whilst clearly you harbor some resentment, it would be beneficial if you could actually comment on news, personal experiences, rumors and speculations related to Saudi Aramco layoffs rather than venting by making derogatory comments on the alternative opinions of others whose experiences are not entirely aligned with yours. Every company has a culture, so situational awareness and adaptation is needed by an individual in order to thrive and perform. Not everybody adapts, or has the capacity to recognize their own limitations. Good luck with your new career.

Last post example of wasted effort spent carefully spraying gold paint on doggie doo then trying to pass it off as fine art.

Change is inevitable. It's unrealistic to expect any company to retain elements of the package that are not competitive with competitors. There have always been differences in the package depending upon origin and passport, marital status and grade codes (3-10, 11-14, 15+). The company culture has changed for good and bad as it adapts to changing market conditions. We all have choices. Everyones comments regardless of era employed, camp location, or department are still valid. I understand the bitterness of being laid off, but no one owes anyone a job for life.
