Rampant employee abuse at Teradata

This company is a sinking ship. When I started with the company I was told I was doing a good job. But I still got abused, every time they need someone to travel I was told I needed to go. I missed out on birthdays, holidays and anniversaries. So that my 2 coworkers can have there's. When I would tell them I have plans with my family I got told welcome to Teradata. I was also told that I was that I had only been with the company for 1 year and they where with the company for 20+ years, that they paid there dues and didn't. This went on for 5 years and the abuse got even worse. I was called a bunch of names and was told I couldn't take vacation during the summer or Thanksgiving and Christmas cause they wanted to spend time with there family. My 1st wife got sick of me being gone all the time and we went through a divorce. I got no support from my coworkers all I was told it's not there problem. I went to our supervisor and talked to him about all the abuse I went through. Big Mistake cause I was quickly moved to a different position where the abuse started all over again. This Time I was forced to work 9-14 days straight. When I went to management over the fact they are breaking the labor laws for my state they then made me work 7 days straight every other week(was told they did that to accommodate my child visitation from my 1st marriage) . I got burnt out I went to a manager he told me if I wanted a better schedule I need to back to court and adjust my child visitation. I told my boss that I would loos my child he then told me work is more important then family. Yes I have been looking for a new job but when you are black listed it makes it really hard.

what is stopping you from taking these guys to cleaners? The answer is pretty simple. When you work for Teradata you sign your rights away. To work for them you agree that if you have an issue you can not just take them to court you have to go to a Teradata Tribunal and plead your case there. If they don't side with you on your case you will have to pay for the Tribunal and the lawyers cost as well....

My sympathies are with you and others who lost the job. When you suffer in silence the managers get away with the bad behaviour. For all the sensitivity training and Ethics training we all know how these trainings are violated by managers. I work here in Asia without giving the country name but the HR is non existent here. No one cares.. even if you complain to HR they make it your problem versus looking into the real issues. The bad behaviour has gone on here for the longest time and good engineers have left the company and we have been reduced to half our strength here... I call it modern day slavery.

Hope you and others come out better from this experience and get a job where all the stress is not

I wasn't in PS I was in the Field. Yes was apart of the job but I was there to do all the work they didn't want to do. I was sick with bronchitis sick in bed and was put on call with out so much as a phone call to let me know. As for finding the people in my shoes. Well most of those people let or where black listed and are now with out jobs including me.

I read your story and I am not surprised... Teradata has been abusing it's employees for a long time. Past 20 quarters have been bad but traveling for your jobs is a must in Teradata as all the PS employees are virtual. Lot of employees have sacrificed a lot for Teradata but once they have used and abused you they let you go. If you complain to upper management they blacklist you and figure out a way to terminate you. I suggest you and others band together.. get a very strong lawyer and go after Teradata. The only way to stop abuse is to teach these guys a lesson. Drag each and everyone of those managers to court and let them testify... I am really sad about your situation and can only pray for you and your family. May god bless you!!! and you find a good job quickly.
