Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Why all the advertisements?

Everywhere I look I see ads for Qualcomm, but what's the point? We have no direct to consumer products, and no one really cares what chip is in their phone as long as it works.

I could see it if we went back to making devices, but Q sold that business and let Apple take the lead, and anyone who looks at a QRD sees we have no talent left in making devices, so what's the point?

In my opinion I think Q should merge with a big tech firm like google or amazon. It just seems there is not the enthusiasm for the business as it was under Irwin. Not necessarily bad but we need a innovative leader like Irwin or Jobs in day to day management.....(my opinion only - these just ain't no mojo like there was before 4G)

My vote is to team up with google.....

peace out....

The commercials are dorky, too. Maybe the engineers and SM design them.

I think this is more of a tactic against the fruit company -- Convince.... er, I mean "educate" a potential jury pool that Q's work expands the whole smartphone and they would see a justification for a license charge based on price for the whole device. A lesson's been learned that jurors are, typically, not Technical people and don't care about your science. However, give them something they've heard in the media a thousand times and they will relate to it much better....

That's what I see. Could be BS.

Brand recognition.....if it wasn't for "Intel Inside" few people would know Intel makes chips that run computer devices. Q used to brand phones with a logo years ago but stopped (not sure why).

Branding is funny business though. It needs to be consistent and indefinite. Q can't expect to start running a new campaign and expect to have an immediate positive impact on brand value. The campaign will take at least a year to see impact to sales and stock price. Just my thoughts...
