Oracle management cannot keep talent on board, after the Sun B.S. many Bare Metal Engineers have friends and family that were impacted. Since Oracle does not care about loyal employees, most are bailing. Oracle has pounded to many nails in to many coffins. Hand writing on the wall, if you're a cloud engineer in Seattle jump sh--. Larry and other idiots at Oracle will flush you in 1 to 3 months. The build out of Bare Metal data centers has slowed too....

Bare metal is in a tail spin, Oracle execs don't want to admit it. BMC kids leaving in droves.
Without a competitive IaaS product, your cloud is weak! The problem with IaaS is that it requires too much investment and the margins are not to Oracle's standards. Oracle has already lost the cloud war they just don't know it. They can go to battle with Salesforce and Workday if they want but the market is not large enough to support Oracle's valuation. They need to get into the IaaS space but they don't want to and they aren't willing to make the investments needed to do so.
IaaS battle is lost, but no exec will ever admit it since LE will not admit it.
so the strategy has changed, now the new mantra is PaaS and autonomous sw, because it's cool and young while IaaS is for old farts.
