Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Molina’s Board of Directors has named Joseph M. Zubretsky as our new president and chief executive officer, effective November 6, 2017. The Board is thrilled that Joe has agreed to lead the Company and to carry forward its mission, especially at this pivotal time as we continue to undergo our transformation under Project Nickel.
Joe Zubretsky has a very accomplished background, with more than 35 years of experience in the health care and insurance industries. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hanover Insurance Group. Prior to Hanover, he served almost nine years at Aetna, Inc., one of the nation’s largest healthcare benefits and insurance providers, where he most recently was Chief Executive Officer of Healthagen Holdings, a group of healthcare services and information technology companies. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2014, he served as Senior Executive Vice President leading Aetna’s National Businesses, a $10 billion business providing health solutions to multi-national companies, and from 2007 to 2013 served as Aetna’s Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Aetna in 2007, Joe served in a variety of senior management roles in the healthcare and financial services sector. He began his career with the accounting firm then known as Coopers & Lybrand, rising to partnership in its national insurance industry group. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Hartford.
Next month I will conclude my assignment as Interim President and CEO and return to my position as full time Chief Financial Officer of the Company. It has been my distinct honor and privilege to serve in this role for the last five months, and I look forward to continue working with you as Molina’s CFO. Molina Healthcare is an incredible company filled with dedicated employees — I have learned so much from all of you, and I cannot wait to see what our Company’s future holds. Thank you so much for your support and dedication as we have confronted head on the difficult business challenges placed before us. You all should be immensely proud of your efforts.
Once Joe Zubretsky begins work next month, please join me in extending to him a warm welcome to Molina. With his leadership and vision, and your continued dedication to our Company’s mission, I have no doubt that the best days of Molina Healthcare lie ahead.
