Meetings are scheduled today to brief everybody about the layoffs.
GES (Global Enterprise Segment) seems to have been hit hard.
A lot of VERY talented people hit.

blame h1b. trump promised to scrap it but he aint done anything yet. maybe in 2020 we need to elect real senators/congressmen who can get rid of this h1b program for good.
Cisco has always targeted >40 people and make no different where you are. Cisco just wants to be hip and show a young face. To bad it was a good company but no longer. They don't care about people or talent. Out with the >40 and bring in a grade 4 to 6, pay less and get less work from them. That is unless they want to bring you back as a contactor.
The ages, maybe even race of those mostly impacted is no doubt influenced, even determined out of the Cisco CPO office. From what I can see, most any thing marketing the people at Cisco, or demographics of people targeted from recruitment shows images of fresh faced young folks mostly, if not always, missing a mature person. The Valley is a mess with political correctness and associated hidden agendas. Living here, I hope my view is myopic and that it's not as bad in other geographies. At this point I'm convinced this company is more concerned with being "hip" rather than formulating and executing successful business strategy with the people needed to maximize the execution piece.
My AS PMO boss was hit. Again, >40. Definitely a growth area. Third time in three years where they went after skilled veterans.
Track record of results is irrelevant.
Does anyone know what the total layoff amount is for 2017?
Heard the GSSO security organization got crushed. Overlays are always perishable at Cisco.
I just got RIF'ed today from Services. 30 days notice. I'm over 50, including the last 23 years at Cisco. My manager mentioned that the only req in his group is for a grade 6 "fresh out" (of college) project manager.
My team: 6 of 40 cut. Only one under 40
not just GES. CSG layoffs happening this week and next.
Yeah what’s up with all the CSEs being TSAs now? Used to be reserved for talented ones.
So ours were in the CSE (newly converted to TSA) pre-sales roles. Not AS.
AS will also be tickled. Delivery impacted as well.
rumor has it there were another 1500 across the board but services (supposedly a growth area) was hit hard. no rhyme or reason but they keep targeting >40 and sr. people.
is this in AS?
