Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Layoffs (Alstom / Windsor, CT)???

I think there are about 1000 ex-Alstom in Windsor CT. Have been hearing rumors of an eventual Windsor closure for a few months.

Perhaps tomorrow will be the announcement? Amazing, I've seen some GE blunders in my limited 12 years here, but buying a company for 10 billion and throwing it overboard as the ship sinks surely tops them all.

Good Job to whoever sold Alstom (Cochet? Why is he even on the payroll still?) and good job to Trian Funds friend's shorting GE.

To wish others lose their jobs is bad form and uncivilised. Glad I don't work with you people.

So many Alstom units already closed, staff dismissed and told to rejoin via Granite. 80% have lost their jobs world wide with this dirty approach.

GE only acquired GE with a promise to the French government to create jobs not destroy them. It's time GE are held for trying to please investers and the ocean clean up for the plastics they developed and made billions from.

They might close Schenchtady but it would cost billions to clean up the asbestos and heavily contaminated land.

All a terrible stab in the back of loyal employees who have worked in terrible places and conditions to now all lose their pensions. It's not saving 2 billion it's to plug the massive hole in their pensions.

Siemens make them look like a second rate company now.

Alstom should with the help of the French government talk their company back, charge GE for establishing themselves back in the market. Forget any merger costs as they were misused by GE.

Such a shame to see the way the company has gone downhill recently but the management have themselves to blame. Warren Buffet dumped his stock everybody else should as well

Boiler (Windsor) is part of GE's portfolio and consists of of two parts: New Equipment and Services. Doubtful GE would just close this business as opposed to sale which has been rumored.

Grow up and stop the nonsense speculation and wishing for job loss. If you are that unhappy, go find another job. Post factual information when it is known.

GE does not want anything to do with Coal. Can you imagine a news article with the CEO of GE on one side of the screen and a video of a smokestack on the other screen? GE would lose all those free government subsidies for their renewable energy investments- free money- corporate welfare. Solution? Get rid of those Windsor Alstom employees and the problem is solved.

There is still about 750 people in windsor ct. I can see some consolidation by GE announcing plant closure in CT and working NYS to add heads to Schenectady. One would expect many to leave on their own from Windsor because they do not want to move to NYS. They would get some tax breaks from NYS to add heads. GE has room for 600-700 people in Schenectady.

I hope GE completely goes bankrupt and everyone looses their (once career) now normal job.
