Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

More important to be popular than effective

Nike managers know how to use anonymous surveys to target employees they want to fire. This has become more prolific with the use of online anonymous surveys. They will submit numerous responses themselves, all supporting their own manufactured allegations. It's impossible to trace or verify. Remember, at Nike it's more important to be popular than effective. HR will support removing any employee who is unpopular or not a good "cultural fit." That's the Nike way.

Morale in toilet at Nike. Evrybody paranoid. Nobody knows where we are headed. Triple double doesn't mean anything.

Don't kid yourself that adidas is any different. It ain't. Adi is on fire because Nike is ubiquitous and tired not because of any brilliance - they are winning the 'not nike' trend, nothing more.

Nike likes personalities more than getting things done. The shift occurred around 2014. There are entire departments that do nothing other than continuously reset their strategy. This does not matter. If you have a shiny personality and PowerPoint. Keep selling the vision. I know 1 senior Director that does nothing but question other people's work. That is basically his job, I know other senior directors that do nothing but manage a tricky relationship internally. Across town at Adidas it is about what did you do vs who likes you. That is why they are on fire right now.

I had the same experience as @PJZCGME-1yrb and others on that thread. Anonymous surveys are nothing more than tools for managers to manufacture lies so they can fire the disfavored few. It's a cowardly way to manage and just reinforces that it's more important to be popular and effective. Reminds me of my favorite under grad class - how to lie with statistics. Maybe I'll become an adjunct prof and teach - how to lie with anonymous surveys. Nike shouldn't allow the use of anonymous surveys. Sign your name or shut your mouth.
