Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Kingwood closing by Q1 2018

Hearing that Kingwood will be shutdown by EOY (2017). Believe they have some cushion on the lease of the building into Q1 of 2018 but not much. Also hear they have not finalized on outsourcing as of yet.

How in the heck does one make a call like this without the specifics detailed out. WFT has never been able to do anything in 3 mo time and they are moving into the holiday season(s) and working with reduced staff as well. Who is running this Automation team now? Someone may need to ask them to stay behind and sweep the place up and not give them a key to the new office, if there is one.

I think this is the last trip around the bowl friends. You have less than 3mo to find a new boat.

If you are older than 35 your timer is running. You make too much money and will be replaced by a 20 something for less.

So what do you count down to, days to Christmas or days tell the doors are closed?

You know they won't hesitate to release folks during the holidays, at least they did not slow last year.

Heard they now got rid of the sales manager who covered their Automation sales hands in Houston, actually covered their ALS team.

Out with th old I guess.

Kingwood bldg is leased by WFT with their renewal coming up in Q1 of next year. Thus the rush to outsource now as they don't have something organized as of yet.

They are operating now at that location so any damage, if any, was nominal.

There is at least one other company at that location, not sure what they do but they only take a very small footprint of the total bldg with WFT taking the vast majority

Does Weatherford own the Kingwood building? Is it flooded or is it operational?

Crazy part about it, Kingwood has been extremely busy in 2017. Now they are planning to move the engineering to labs or spencer Rd, and outsource manufacturing.

Transition is going to be a mess. They don't know what they're getting into.

WFT shut down OCM Ventura in May 2017 and is know paying 26K a Month for empty building but maybe they like to grow weeds more money.
