Good morning,
The past few months have been a time of great challenge for Molina Healthcare and its employees. Earlier this year, we set out on a journey to secure the future of our Company, and to make certain that Molina Healthcare remains financially strong so that it can continue its unique mission of serving low-income families.
The outset of this journey has been especially difficult for all of us, and as events have unfolded we have felt a wide range of emotions. This week in particular has been hard, with so many of our esteemed and valued co-workers leaving the Company. We all should feel a debt of gratitude for their service.
But amidst all of these recent challenges, I think it is imperative that we also keep a long-term perspective, and that we not lose sight of the fact that this is also a time of tremendously exciting opportunity for the Company. We have a chance now to make the Company more successful than it has ever been before. So with some of our greatest difficulties now behind us, let us move forward with a renewed sense of resolve to fulfill the Molina mission and to serve the members who rely on us for their care.
As I have said many times before, Project Nickel is not just about layoffs. It is much bigger than that. Project Nickel is also about the fundamental re-design of our Company, from top to bottom, and about Company-wide process improvements. Our just completed organizational redesign will now allow us to pursue all of the following additional Project Nickel initiatives:
· Growing our Medicaid managed care business
· Improving the quality of our provider payment function by partnering with high-quality, cost-effective medical providers
· Facilitating better and more efficient care and utilization management through our new mClinical platform
· Developing effective care management initiatives
· Partnering with providers of administrative services in a more efficient and cost-effective manner
· Reinvigorating information technology and enterprise project management to improve efficiency across the organization
· Establishing a modern, effective direct delivery platform
With our new organization in place, many of you will now become directly engaged in these various initiatives. You will be hearing much more about these initiatives – and your part in them – over the next several weeks.
For now, some of you will find yourselves with new roles or new reporting lines. Your managers and leaders have been encouraged to speak with you about these changes, and we ask all people managers to create clear lines of communication with their teams as we adapt to these new changes.
Although much of the large-scale organizational redesign is complete, certain notifications have not yet occurred (for example, Puerto Rico and Florida due to Hurricane Irma). Going forward, we must commit ourselves to the continuous evaluation of our Company’s staffing levels, operating processes, and ongoing employee performance to ensure excellence in all we do – as any responsible, high-performance organization must do in order to be successful. As a practical matter, this means that I cannot guarantee to you that all employee exits are complete. In the modern business world, no one can give you that assurance. But I can assure you that the most difficult times are now behind us.
Be engaged, get involved, and join us as we move forward toward building an even stronger Molina Healthcare. We know these changes are difficult, but the result will be a stronger, more sustainable Company. Please continue to submit questions, comments, and suggestions through our anonymous survey, and we will continue to provide regular updates to the FAQ as we progress through the project.
Thank you for everything you do for Molina Healthcare. Together, we are writing a new and brighter chapter in our Company’s history!
Sincerely,
Joe White
