So the Houston location was one closed as of 12/15 but in the worst way. My friend in New York that was being laid off the same day as me received her severance letter on 12/08 but Houston did not receive theirs until after closure on 12/15. There was a rude HR representative sent down to close the site who cared less that people were being laid off 10 days before Christmas or what their situation was but rather making her return flight on time. The center manager continued trying to reason with her and she continually had the same rude behavior. All this to fast forward and say that the severance letters after being signed and submitted back to the HR rep we’re just left in the mail room without telling anyone they needed to be mailed out. If you work for Molina, run now before they treat you the way they’ve done us. Molina should be quite embarrassed about their handling of people’s lives during this layoff. Videos available of this incident have been released to the media so stay tuned.

Molina Healthcare’s restructuring will result in more Long Beach job losses than previously reported.

The company, which had announced plans to cut some 1,500 positions nationwide, filed new notices showing that, combined with numbers from earlier filings, it plans to eliminate 500 Long Beach-based jobs.

The latest notices were filed on Thursday, when Molina Healthcare confirmed it was taking actions related to layoffs, but did not then comment on any numbers. The company provided a similar statement when asked for comment on the new notices.

“Nationally, Molina is reducing the number of positions in its health plan and national support operations by approximately 10 percent, which is what we previously reported in July,” the statement read. “Much of the large-scale reorganization is now complete, but certain notifications have not yet occurred due to special circumstances. As always, we will continuously monitor our staffing capacity relative to the needs of the company.”

A federal law called the WARN Act requires companies with more than 100 employees to inform local governments of major layoffs and plant closures. In Long Beach, Molina Healthcare has provided notices to Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network, a public agency responsible for job placement and training services.

Pacific Gateway provided copies of five WARN Act notices — two filed in late July and three filed this past Thursday — that enumerate planned job cuts affecting Molina business units.

The agency had previously provided one of those notices, filed in late July, showing plans for 25 layoffs in Long Beach. Another July filing revealed plans for 100 Long Beach layoffs had not previously been reported.

Molina reported in its July filings that the company planned to execute those layoffs by the beginning of October.

The additional layoffs acknowledged in the company’s Thursday filings are pegged to a Nov. 15 date. One letter reports that nearly 200 layoffs will be effective as of those date, and two others declare roughly 150 layoffs are scheduled to begin at that time.

Combined, the notices report plan to lay off more than 550 people in Long Beach and other California locations.
