Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Greenville SC Layoffs

Hearing that layoffs are soon from people inside, video with the New CEO implied that layoffs are coming everywhere, especially in Greenville. Does anybody know more about it? Very curious. Thanks guys.

Greenville gas turbine could offer 55 and 25 and the number of people would drop so not as many would be laid off. Why is this not an option and being considered?

Anyone else have a plant manager that's scared to face the employees in an all employee meeting. We always have one after each quarter, but for some reason here in Greenville for the last 2 quarters we're not having them.

GE Greenville has too many employees for the workload. Keep in mind that most of the work is worthless, non-value added crap that clueless managers think is important. Just because you are busy doesn't mean what you are doing is helping the bottom line. Greenville needs to cut between 10 and 15% of the overall workforce immediately.

I think if they will cut JOBS in GasTurbine Switzerland will be in first position.

Here (Switzerland) 25% of layoffs .

GE has always been known for its love affair with layoffs decades before this forum was active. GE has ALWAYS been known for layoffs.

It isn't ALWAYS true, or it wasn't. Look at this forum. GE is not active until 2016 Q4.

If you work for GE you know that layoffs are ALWAYS coming. GE is always planning on shutting down plants, moving jobs, changing your manager, etc. No loyalty from the worlds most unethical company.

I have been hearing for a while that significant/aggressive layoffs are coming to Greenville soon. Greenville doesn't have enough gas turbine volume to pay for the overhead throughout the campus. The market isn't getting better. Look for a job before GE forces you out the door. Stay away from the gas turbine industry. Other gas turbine manufacturers are struggling as well.
