Whoever faked layoff rumors, what do you think now?

Apparently all of the Bay Area support staff were laid off, with the option of hiring onto a subcontract company. So maybe a classical layoff has not happened, but a technical layoff has occurred under the WARN radar...
True but attrition not replaced is different from layoff. My last manager (a director) told me directly there would be layoff but I would be ok because my performance is not below 4 rating. Then I hear same thing from VP. WTH does this mean? the executive do not know what they are doing? The "rumor" I hear came from executive. I am very disappointed and somewhat disgusted leadership would start rumor. Very, very immature....so I have anxiety now and reading this stupid blog when I should be sleeping so I can do my very best at work tomorrow. Shame on you leaders.
People already got their packages, maybe you need to get out of you le shxt hole and look around. Attrition is at max now.
