Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

We don't have to assume negative intent, it's more than obvious

Recent remarks from our EVP outline that sentiment exactly. Without ever addressing the layoffs directly, he told us to stop "the worry, gossip, rumours, paranoia and assumption of negative intent." Pardon me, sir, but you've laid off about a dozen of my friends and the husband of the lady who sits next to me. Meanwhile they've redone how PAR works and have gone back to keeping the score from you until it's already too late. The lady on my other side got the lowest score and it's locked in for a year, so it will keep her from changing positions. How do they expect us to NOT assume negative intent?? I used to show up early and stay late and bust my butt, but did it show on my last three evals? No. I got the same score on my eval as miss poor performance. Then they hired someone at a higher level to do half of what I was doing at this time last year. And I had to train her. So I'm done. I don't care anymore. I'm hoping to be laid off at this point, and looking for something else in the meantime.

Exactly, @PkI6kfo-yqz. It's the audacity of expecting us to train somebody for something we have been doing as part of our everyday work, and knowing they will be paid more to do ONLY that that gets to me. At the same time, we are kept down through false bad evaluations. It's infuriating.

I missed Mr. Kings all hands last week. Is that what he said. I saw all the other comments and surprised the media hasn't picked some of this up. One person ruining the company and worst of all leading our ecommerce efforts. I found another job in Atlanta and plan to turn in my notice next week. Glad to leave his organization.

They are forcing the normal curve on evals, so that when there is a rif, it's easier to pick associates. If you get a dn overall or on a component you are in line to be out the door.

I think they're forcing a few people on each team to have bad Evals every year so that they can save on compensation.

@oiz, The terms “right to work” is being confused with “employment at will.” "Right to work" means a person has a right to work for a company without being required to join or support a union. “Employment at will” means that either an employee or employer can end a working relationship at any time, for any reason, without notice. The only exceptions are that employers can’t fire anyone for reasons protected by federal legislation. That means that discriminatory firings (age, s-x, religion, race, etc.) are still illegal in “employment at will” states.

I hate to say it, but stuff like this is why people used to have unions.

But that ship has long sailed now. Most states are "right to work" which is ironic because under the law, you don't have any right to work in those states. Your employer can fire you at any time with no reason given and there's nothing you can do about it.
